Summary The production of acid by the parietal cells of the gastric mucosa can, by means of pH color indicators, serve to identify the proximal border of the antrum mucosa. Kongo red (color change at pH of 3), which stains the acid-producing gastric mucosa black while leaving the antrum region red, is particularly suited for this purpose; the border between the antrum and body portions of the stomach can be identified endoscopically and marked off by means of India ink injection. A preoperative demarcation of the antrum, especially for antrectomy, is thus possible.

Zusammenfassung Die Funktion der Belegzellen in der Korpusschleimhaut, Säure zu sezernieren, kann zur Markierung der proximalen Antrumschleimhautgrenze mit Hilfe von pH-Farbstoffindicatoren genützt werden. Als Indicator eignet sich besonders Kongorot (Farbumschlag bei pH 3), das die Säure bildende Korpusschleimhaut schwärzlich färbt, während die Antrumschleimhaut rot bleibt. Endoskopisch läßt sich die Grenze zwischen Antrum und Korpus erkennen und durch submuköse Tuscheinjektionen markieren. Damit ist die Voraussetzung für eine exakte präoperative Abgrenzung des Antrum, also für eine Antrektomie, gegeben.
