Abstract: Abstract The teaching of evolution was the subject of intense controversy in the United States in the first decades of the twentieth century. Both the validity of the theory and its ethical, political and religious implications were in dispute. This article analyzes a magazine intended to popularize science in this context, Evolution: a Journal of Nature (1927-1938). The objective is to demonstrate that the dynamics of the public circulation of knowledge represented by the magazine cannot be reduced to a process of simplification, eliminating details and exceptions of little use to the general public, but rather consisted of a complete adaptation, creatively connecting scientific knowledge to questions of great importance in the public arena.

Abstract: Abstract This paper addresses Worker’s Health scientific production, specifically about how the Journal Ciência & Saúde Coletiva has contributed to the consolidation of this field. This is a qualitative and descriptive study based on a review of the Journal’s collection from 1996 to 2019. We selected a final sample of 156 texts organized by thematic groups. The theme was designed with the predominance of Epidemiological and Public Policy studies, studies of a theoretical-methodological nature and related to World of Work Transformations. Approximately 60% of publications are concentrated in the 2009-2015 period. A significant decline in the number of works was observed as of 2016. The papers address Worker’s Health in a comprehensive and diversified manner. There is a greater emphasis on research on work and environment, health issues, formulation and implementation of policies and programs. The journal significantly contributes to the national Worker’s Health. Strengthening academic production in this field remains a challenge, especially in the face of the loss of rights.

Abstract: The present text is an introduction and presentation to the translation of the paper A fond farewell to “approximate truth“?by philosopher of science P. Kyle Stanford and published in this issue of Instante Journal. I explain below the main concepts and definitions of Prof. Stanford's paper, which, although brief, contributes to the scientific realism debate by clarifying that the generic definition of the debate as a discussion about the “approximate truth”of contemporary and successful scientific theories is currently outdated and superficial.According to Stanford, this definition fails to illustrate the true nature of the most important questions in this fruitful philosophical debate.

Abstract: Abstract The first half of the twentieth century was marked globally by a nationalist shift, which also affected science. The initiatives to block some “national science” (especially from Germany) and the discussions that flooded Western public space are hallmarks of the radical transformations that knowledge and power underwent at the time. Based on historical literature from the time, the article explores the growing polarization of scientific discourse in the first half of the twentieth century. Special attention is given to the interwar period, the (re)founding (after 1918) of international scientific organisms based in Europe (like the International Research Council), and the prohibition of the journal Nature in Nazi Germany in 1937.

Abstract: Abstract: Bas van Fraassen’s anti-realist account of science has played a major role in shaping recent philosophy of science. His constructive empiricism, in particular, has been widely discussed and criticized in the journal literature and is a standard topic in philosophy of science course curricula. Other aspects of his empiricism are less well known, including his empiricist account of scientific laws, his relatively recent re-evaluation of what it is to be an empiricist, and his empiricist structuralism. This essay attempts to provide an overview of these diverse aspects of van Fraassen’s empiricism and to show how they relate to one another. It also focuses on the nature of van Fraassens’s epistemic voluntarism and its relationship to his empiricist philosophy of science.

Abstract: ABSTRACT: The article discusses the panorama of teacher training in environmental education, its challenges and potential. The aim is to map, analyze and discuss the academic production published between 1992 and 2017, regarding the training of teachers in environmental education in English from the Integrative Analysis. The methodology is characterized as quantitative-qualitative, bibliographical and documentary. Publications in English on the Capes Journal Portal were analyzed. The results showed difficulties and potencies. The difficulties were superficial approaches, disciplinary vision, lack of dialogue and motivation, rigidity of thought and teachers’ lack of contact with nature. The potencies found were exploration of new methodologies, use of social and media Technologies, expansion of activity spaces, diversification of approaches, self-training, cooperation, activities that explore affection, creativity and art.

Abstract: ABSTRACT This article has an interpretative nature and aims to discuss the academic literacies in the context of affirmative action policies to expand the access to higher education in Brazil. For such, an overview encompassing the ideological and the autonomous models of literacies and about literacies and culture, focusing on black and indigenous populations was conducted. Following, conceptual issues regarding academic literacies were addressed based on the studies of Lea and Street (1998, 2014), as well as the notion of the institutional practice of mystery, discussed by Lillis (1999) and Lillis and Scott (2007). Two fragments of opinion articles published prior to Federal Law 12.711/2012 in Boletim, an academic journal of UFMG, were used in this article as a means to correlate the discourse about meritocracy used against racial quotas, affirmative action policies and academic literacies studies.

Abstract: Objective: to identify the Brazilian scientific production about Nursing consultation teaching in nurses' training. Method: a descriptive study of a bibliometric nature conducted in the portal of Biblioteca Virtual em Saúde and in PubMed from April to May 2021, with the following inclusion criteria: full articles, in Portuguese or English, published from 2009 to 2020. Results: a total of 13 studies were identified, of which four were published in a B2 journal from the Northeast region, although with predominance of papers from the South region (38.46%), with the experience report type standing out. The most frequently observed themes were related to the teaching methodologies, especially the active ones with use of technological tools. “Nursing consultation” was not found to be one of the most frequent keywords. Conclusion: by verifying the incipience of the production on the theme, this study provides subsidies for expanding this knowledge area, reverberating in improvements in Nursing consultation teaching and in nurses' training.

Abstract: Abstract An integrative literature review (ILR) was conducted to identify the relationship between humanitarian logistics and the development of the COVID-19 pandemic based on research in the SCOPUS, MEDLINE and ENEGEP databases in April and May 2022. In all, 61 articles were evaluated according to the following criteria: original article or review of literature published in a scientific journal; abstract and full text available; article on humanitarian logistics in relation to the COVID-19 pandemic. The resulting sample comprised eleven publications organized and analyzed through a synthesis matrix, where 72% were published in international journals and mostly in 2021 (56%). The presence of the supply chain defines the course of action of economic and social sectors, which in turn determine, by means of an interdisciplinary approach, humanitarian operations in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic. The lack of studies narrows down humanitarian logistics to mitigate the impacts caused by these disasters, both in the context of the current pandemic and in future events of the same nature. However, as a global emergency, it suggests the need to increase scientific knowledge on the subject of humanitarian logistics related to disaster events.

Abstract: ABSTRACT The objective of the article is to compare the Brazilian scientific production on Digital Heritage indexed in the Reference Database of Journal Articles in Information Science (BRAPCI) to what has been produced internationally and is indexed in the Web of Science (WoS). It comes from basic, qualitative, exploratory, descriptive, and bibliographic research. The corpus of analysis consists of 34 articles, 16 from BRAPCI and 18 from WOS, of which the main results are: scarce publication, but constant since 2005; 50% of articles published in Qualis A1 journals; in comparison, Brazil stands out in basic research, questioning the concept of memory in cyberspace. In international production, research focuses on the social reality of digital heritage and its transforming power in the preservation and dissemination of memory; the biggest distinction is in the way of treating digital heritage as an object of research, as 37.5% of research in Brazil is of an applied nature, while international production has an index of 77.8% in this aspect. Thus, it is necessary to reinforce, in the Brazilian informational debate, the dynamic and catalyzing effect of the concept of heritage in the digital interface, promoting new research and disseminating existing projects/initiatives in the applied scope of the area.
