Abstract: It was concluded that genotype selection is important in silage corn cultivation. The study was conducted to determine dry matter yield and some quality characteristics of 9 silage corn varieties in the ecological conditions of Yozgat during 2013 and 2014. The experiment was arranged in randomized blocks design with three replications. The corn varieties harvested at dough stage were investigated for plant height, stem diameter, leaf width and height, first ear height, ear length, number of ears, dry matter yield, crude protein ratio, silage yield, lactic, and acidic and butyric acid contents. According to results; mean plant height, stem diameter, leaf width and length, number of leaves, first ear height, ear length, number of ears were ranged between 2.17 and 2.73 m, 17.21 and 23.23 mm, 8.46 and 9.70 cm, 70.46 and 91.17 cm, 10.41 and 14.25, 0.88 and 1.62 m, 26.08 and 35.46 cm, 1.00 and 1.40, respectively. The highest dry matter and silage yield were determined in Arifiye (24.66 t ha-1 and 89.32 t ha-1) while the lowest was in Truva (18.44 t ha-1 and 76.88 t ha-1). Lactic and acetic acid among corn varieties were ranged between 1.504- 2.571% and 0.308-0.691%, respectively. Arifiye and Sakarya varieties showed better performance with yield and silage quality in Yozgat conditions.

Abstract: In this study, factors that cause drainage problems in Mustafa Uysal Park have been searched in the scope of landscape design and landscape engineering. In order to propose regulations, evaluations and observations were conducted to protect natural topography and natural drainage lines and these data have been digitized. Digital elevation model (DEM) has been created by ArcGIS 10.1 software 3DAnalyst extension and Rainwater flow directions and water collection area maps are formed by ArcHydro extension which was used to create Rainwater flow directions and water collection area maps. Water accumulation analyses was carried out by performed field observations and were compared with data formed by used to create water accumulation analysis map and compared with water collection area maps created with ArcHydro extension. According to the results of analysis, drainage systems have been determined to be insufficient in study areas. Results indicated that surface waters are generally accumulate in land-uses such as pedestrian ways and playgrounds due to deficiencies in landscape design. Surface water flowing quantities have been calculated with Rational Method, to avoid structures and entries from water mass, deep drainage and concrete or grass-covered parabola surface drainage systems were suggested. The proposed drainage systems and design features of the parks were discussed and several recommendations were made for future studies.

Abstract: The aim of this study was to reveal the effects of possible changes in the area based supports on the farmers’ willingness to grow hazelnuts in the authorized areas. The main material of the study was the primary data obtained from the 95 hazelnut farms selected with the stratified sampling method in the authorized areas of the districts of Terme and Çarşamba of Samsun province. The Contingent Valuation method was used to determine the farmers’ willingness to grow hazelnut at different support scenarios and Panel Poisson model was used to estimate the factors affecting the farmers’ willingness to grow hazelnut. The research results shows that reducing or ending the area-based supports does not cause any decrease effect in the hazelnut plantation areas of the farms, whereas increases in the area-based supports would increase the hazelnut areas of the farms. Poisson model results show that an increase of ¨ 100 in the based support would increase the farmer’ willingness to grow hazelnut by 3.86 decares. However, the farmers’ willingness to grow hazelnut were higher of 4.46 decares for the farmers residing in the urban areas, 2.78 decares in higher household size, 1.64 decares in higher householders, 0.72 decare in larger farms and 0.65 decare in older householders compared to their peers. However, the main profession as farmer and generating higher gross profit per decare from hazelnut farming would increase the farmers’ willingness to grow hazelnut by 2.54 and 0.085 deraces, respectively.

Abstract: In this study conducted in 2014 and 2015, genotypes were collected from the center and villages of Kırşehir province. Overall, 99 green long pepper genotypes within 313 pepper genotypes were characterized from the emerging of seedling to the end of the vegetation period, in terms of 48 agronomic and morphological characteristics based on IPGRI's description list for pepper and the UPOV criteria. The minimum, maximum, mean values and frequency percentages of the studied characters were determined. In order to determine the relationship between populations, cluster and principal component analysis were applied. As a result of the principal component analysis, total 17 main component axes were obtained and these axes represented 75.82% of the total variance. Genotypes were categorized into 15 groups in dendrogram according to morphological and agronomic characteristics. As a result of cluster analysis; S1, S2, S62, S3, S9, S67 and TR69737 coded genotypes were determined to be the most distant genotypes in terms of agronomic and morphological degree of relation. Up to now, with no similar study has been done before, the genetic variation in pepper populations determined by the identification of green long pepper genotypes of Kırşehir province will provide significant advantages in future pepper breeding studies.

Abstract: The aims of this study were to determine marketing strategies of orange exporters in Hatay city, and evaluating the problems about orange exportation. The primary data of the study were collected by face to face interview method from 41 orange exporters during 2014 – 2015. The research results indicated that companies were mostly adopted to differentiated marketing strategies, they were determining their product prices according to the market prices, and product quality increases the competitiveness. It was also found out that, main markets of the companies were commonly Russia and Middle East countries, and they were intended to protect their existing markets instead of finding new markets. However, it was also found that promotional and R & amp;D activities were insufficient in order to protect their existing markets. Additionally, there was yield lost around 10-15% due to the problems derive from transportation, packaging and storing and etc. In that case, either they were disposing their products or selling to the countries which were not selective. Lastly, it was determined that companies were facing to difficulties in shipment by seaway, and they had an expectation about better subsidies for exportation by government organizations.

Abstract: Albeit it is not the homeland of dry beans, Turkey is an important country by having its micro-gene centers, genetic diversity and food culture. This research was conducted in Middle Kızılırmak Valley where we have important place for dry bean production. In the study, 140 dry bean landrace (DBL) producers interviewed face to face for fulfilling the questionnaire forms. The producers divided into 2 groups as home garden type producers (HGP) and field type producers (FP). In this study, the general characteristics of DBL producers and produced DBL, and the reasons for choosing these populations were determined. In addition, the producers 'perspectives in terms of economic (economic aspect of rural development) and genetic resources (natural resources) have been investigated. As a result, 2-year production periods of the DBL producers in the research area were evaluated and it was found that there was a contraction in the dry bean landrace production area (about 50%). It has been determined that small farmers play an important role in the conservation, and they are more sensitive in the protection of genetic resources. We need to have more studies and policies that include conservation and sustainability with economically better potentials.
