Das Auftreten von Nitrosaminen kann durch die Ergebnisse eindeutig ausgeschlossen werden.
    Notes: Summary For proving the formation of nitrosamines applying maillardconditions [2] we tested the volatile reaction products of various glucose-aminoacid mixtures by coupling gas chromatography and mass spectrometry, polarography and thin-layer chromatography. The appearence of nitrosamines could undoubtedly be excluded according to the results.

    Description / Table of Contents: Zusammenfassung Drei Modell-Gemisched-Glucose/dl-Alanin,d-Glucose/l-Lysin undd-Glucose/l-Glutaminsäure wurden unter Zugabe von Natriumnitrit unter Maillard-Bedingungen gebräunt. Die Zugabe von Natriumnitrit erfolgte vor und nach der Bräunung. Im letzteren Fall schloß sich eine kurze Nachbräunung an. Die Reaktionsbedingungen — pH-Wert und Bräunungstemperaturen — wurden variiert. Die Analyse der alkalibeständigen wasserdampfflüchtigen Maillard-Produkte erfolgte durch GC und GC/MS-Analyse. Bei den identifizierten Produkten handelt es sich um alkylierte Pyrazine, Furan- und Pyridin-Derivate. Nitrosopiperidin wurde aus dem Bräunungsansatzd-Glucose/l-Lysin (Nitritzugabe nach der Bräunung) massenspektrometrisch nachgewiesen. Die Änderung des pH-Wertes um eine Einheit, sowie die Änderung der Bräunungstemperatur innerhalb des Temperaturbereiches 100–150° C haben auf die qualitative Zusammensetzung der flüchtigen Maillard-Produkte eines betrachteten Modell-Gemisches keinen Einfluß. Ein geringer Unterschied wird hinsichtlich der quantitativen Zusammensetzung beobachtet.
    Notes: Summary Three model mixturesd-glucose/dl-alanine,d-glucose/l-lysine andd-glucose/l-glutamic acid were browned under Maillard conditions with addition of sodium nitrite. The nitrite was added either before or after the browning reaction. When the nitrite was applied after the browning reaction, a second browning was performed. Reaction conditions-pH-values and browning temperatures — were changed. By GC and GC/MS analysis of alkaline stable volatile Maillard products formation of alkylated pyrazines, furan and pyridine derivatives was confirmed. Thus nitrosopiperidine was detected in subsequent addition of sodiumnitrite after browningd-glucose/l-lysine mixtures. The one unit change of the pH-values and the browning temperature within the range of 100–150° C do not have influence on the qualitative composition of the volatile Maillard products for a certain model mixture. Slight differences were established only in the quantitative composition.

    Notes: Zusammenfassung Es wird über einen zur Obduktion gekommenen Fall vonStillscher Krankheit bei einem 11jährigen Knaben berichtet. Bei der pathologischanatomischen Untersuchung konnten im wesentlichen bisher erhobene Befunde bestätigt werden; vor allem beobachteten wir die Kardinalsymptome wie Milztumor, Lymphdrüsenschwellung, Perikarditis, Erkrankung des periartikulären Gewebes und auch die unspezifischen Infiltrate in den sog. Rheumaorganen. Zwei neuartige Befunde wurden erstmalig beschrieben; nämlich eine Aortitis und Arteriitis der großen Gefäße sowie Zottengelenke. Die vorhandene Tuberkulose kann nicht als Ursache derStillschen Krankheit angesehen werden.

    Notes: Abstract Soils disturbed by long-term opencast mining were treated with organic waste materials for reclamation. Humic substances were extracted from waste and soil samples and analysed using pyrolysis-gas chromatography/mass spectrometry and electrofocusing. Furthermore, analytical pyrolysis permits to study all starting materials in situ. According to structural similarities, the statistical evaluation of the pyrolysis results clearly indicates three sample groups. The first group, called compost, implies the waste materials compost and composted sewage sludge. Moreover, pyrolysis revealed that coal humic substances are predominant in brown coal sludge, pure mine soils and mine soils treated with the different organic waste materials. They constitute the second group. The sewage sludge contains a high nitrogen potential, as expected, and represents the third group. Finally, pyrolysis generally showed the specific structural characteristics of humic and fulvic acids, respectively. Electrofocusing yielded for all samples a signal pattern that is typical of humic substances. However, number and ratio of the signals differ according to the special structural features of the samples.

    Notes: Summary The incorporation of starch hydrolysates in phenolic resins of the novolak and resol type via intermediate acid catalyzed dehydration to 5-hydroxymethylfurfural (HMF) has been investigated. The course of reaction was monitored by carbon-13-NMR and IR spectroscopy. Due to the formation of HMF/phenol condensates, savings of up to 40 % phenol and 50 % formaldehyde (by weight) are possible in comparison to commercial resins. Besides maintenance of essential property profiles, additional benefits may be achieved with respect to faster curing and lower amounts of free monomers.

    Notes: Abstract Meteorological data, ozone mixing ratios, and photolysis frequencies for the period August 2 to August 24, 1994, are presented and discussed in support of the field campaign POPCORN (Photochemistry of Plant Emitted Compounds and OH Radicals in Northeastern Germany). Measurements of temperature, ozone, and wind speed at different heights are used to evaluate micro-meteorological parameters. The observations provide information about local influences on the air mass composition. The analysis of radio sonde data of nearby stations provides the height of the planetary boundary layer.
