    Description / Table of Contents: The Crystal and Molecular Structure of triptych-Boroxazolidine (Triethanolamine Borate)The crystal structure of triptych-boroxazolidine, C6H12BNO3, has been determined by X-ray diffraction. The intensity data were collected by a Pailred diffractometer and the structure was solved by direct methods. The molecule has threefold symmetry along the intermolecular B—N bond with the length 1.677 ± 0.006 Å.
    Notes: Die Struktur von triptych-Boroxazolidin, C6H12BNO3, wurde röntgenographisch mit Hilfe direkter Methoden bestimmt. Das Molekül besitzt eine dreizählige Symmetrieachse entlang einer innermolekularen B—N-Bindung mit der Länge 1.677 ± 0.006 Å.

The molecules are linked to chains by hydrogen bonds along the twofold screw axis. The O…H—O distance is 2.468(8) Å; the P—O distances are 1.486(6) Å and 1.526(6) Å.
    Notes: Diphenylphosphinsäure, Cl2H11O2P, kristallisiert mit 4 Formeleinheiten pro Elementarzelle in der Raumgruppe P21/c. a = 11.441(4) Å, b = 6.059(3) Å, c = 15.722(7) Å, β = 99.93(3)°. Die einzelnen Moleküle sind in Richtung der zweizähligen Schraubenachsen durch Wasserstoffbrückenbindungen der Länge 2.468(8) Å, zu Ketten verknüpft. Die Bindungsabstände d(P=O) bzw. d(P—OH) betragen 1.486(6) bzw. 1.526(6) Å.

Synthesis and Properties of the Methylenediphosphiranes (t-BuP)2)C = CR2 (R = H, Me, 4-ClC6H4)The first methylenediphosphiranes (diphosphamethylenecyclopropanes) (t-BuP)2C = CH2 (1), (t-BuP)2C = CMe2 (2), and (t-BuP)2C = C(4-ClC6H4)2 (3) were synthesized by [2 + 1] cyclocondensation of K(t-Bu)P - P(t-Bu)K with the corresponding 1,1-dichloroolefins. The homocyclophosphanes (t-BuP)n (n = 4,3) and in the case of 1 mainly H(t-Bu)P - P(t-Bu)H are formed as by-products. The three-membered heterocycles 2 and 3 could be purely isolated as surprisingly stable compounds. According to an X-ray single-crystal analysis 3 possesses approximately C2 symmetry and exhibits one of the smallest bonding angles ψ (P - P - C) = 52.4° on a phosphorus atom experimentally proved so far. Along [100] there are canals filled with disordered n-pentane molecules.
    Notes: Die ersten Methylendiphosphirane (Diphosphamethylencyclopropane) (t-BuP)2C = CH2 (1), (t-BuP)2C = CMe2 (2) und (t-BuP)2C = C(4-ClC6H4)2 (3) wurden durch [2 + 1]-Cyclokondensation von K(t-Bu)P - P(t-Bu)K mit den entsprechenden 1,1-Dichlorolefinen synthetisiert. Als Nebenprodukte entstehen die Homocyclophosphane (t-BuP)n (n = 4,3) und im Fall von 1 vor allem H(t-Bu)P - P(t-Bu)H. Die Dreiringheterocyclen 2 und 3 konnten als thermisch überraschend beständige Verbindungen in reiner Form isoliert werden. 3 besitzt nach der Röntgenstrukturanalyse annähernd die Symmetrie C2 und enthält mit ψ (P - P - C) = 52.4° einen der kleinsten experimentell gesicherten Bindungswinkel am Phosphor. Längs [100] liegen fehlgeordnet mit n-Pentan gefüllte Kanäle vor.

    Description / Table of Contents: The First Polyiodo Complex - Triethylsulfoniumtriiodomercurate(II)-tris(diiodine), (Et3S)[Hg2I6]1/2 · 3 I2After Raman spectroscopic investigation of the system HgI2/Et3SIx, x = 3, 5, 7, triethylsulfoniumtriiodomercuratetris(diiodine), (Et3S)[Hg2I6]1/2 · 3 I2 was synthesized by reacting of HgI2 and liquid Et3SI7. The compound crystallizes at room temperature triclinically in the space group P1 with a = 879.4(7), b = 1 209.1(5), c = 1 291.5(5) pm, α = 96.16(3)°, β = 103.82(6)°, γ = 99.05(5)° and Z = 2. The crystal structure is composed of disordered Et3S+ cations, the centrosymmetric complex anion [HgI2/2I2]22- and three connecting iodine molecules I2.
    Notes: Nach Raman-spektroskopischer Untersuchung des Systems HgI2/Et3SIx, x = 3, 5, 7, wurde die neue Verbindung Triethylsulfoniumtriiodomercurat-tris(diiod), (Et3S) · [Hg2I6]1/2 · 3 I2, durch Umsetzung von HgI2 mit flüssigem Et3SI7 dargestellt und strukturell charakterisiert. Sie kristallisiert bei Raumtemperatur in der triklinen Raumgruppe P1 mit a = 879,4(7), b = 1 209,1(5), c = 1 291,5(5) pm, α = 96,16(3)°, β = 103,82(6)°, γ = 99,05(5)° und Z = 2. Die Kristallstruktur wird aus dem fehlgeordneten Kation Et3S+, einem aus zwei kantenverknüpften Tetraedern [HgI2/2I2]22- der Symmetrie i und drei I2 aufgebaut, welche die Anionen über die nicht verbrückenden Iodid-Liganden vernetzen.

N-propylurotropinium pentaiodide C9H19N4I5 crystallizes monoclinically in P21/n with a = 1007.6(3) pm, b = 1362.5(3) pm, c = 2899.0(9) pm, β = 91.49(3)º and Z = 8. The crystal structure is built up from parallel chains of cations UrPr+ and pairs of V-shaped pentaiodide anions I5- along [0 1 0]. N-propylurotropinium heptaiodide C9H19N4I7 crystallizes triclinically in P1 with a = 970.4(1) pm, b = 971.1(1) pm, c = 1357.8(2) pm, α = 106.83(1)º, β = 92.28(1)º, γ = 105.17(1)º and Z = 2. The crystal structure is stacked by alternating cationic and anionic double layers along [0 0 1]. The heptaiodide layer shows a two-dimensional network.
    Notes: Die Verbindungen UrPrIx mit x = 5 und 7 lassen sich durch Umsetzung von N-Propylurotropiniumiodid UrPrI mit überschüssigem Iod I2 bei Raumtemperatur aus wäßriger Lösung gewinnen. N-Propylurotropiniumpentaiodid C9H19N4I5 kristallisiert in der monoklinen Raumgruppe P21/n mit a = 1007,6(3) pm, b = 1362,5(3) pm, c = 2899,0(9) pm, β = 91,49(3)º und Z = 8. In der Kristallstruktur ordnen sich Kationen UrPr+ und Dimere aus stark aufgeweiteten V-förmigen Anionen I5- entlang [0 1 0] zu parallelen Strängen an. N-Propylurotropiniumheptaiodid C9H19N4I7 kristallisiert in der triklinen Raumgruppe P1 mit a = 970,4(1) pm, b = 971,1(1) pm, c = 1357,8(2) pm, α = 106,83(1)º, β = 92,28(1)º, γ = 105,17(1)º und Z = 2. In der Kristallstruktur wechseln sich Doppelschichten aus Kationen UrPr+ und aus vernetzten Anionen I7- längs [0 0 1] ab.

On Tetra(n-propyl)ammonium Polyiodides (n-Pr4N)In with n = 3, 5, 7: Preparation and Crystal Structures of a Triiodide (n-Pr4N)I3, a Pentaiodide (n-Pr4N)I5, and a Heptaiodide (n-Pr4N)I7[(n-C3H7)4N]I3, [(n-C3H7)4N]I5 and [(n-C3H7)4N]I7 have been prepared by the reaction of tetra(n-propyl)ammoniumiodide [(n-C3H7)4N]I with iodine I2 in ethanol. Their crystal structures have been determined by single crystal X-ray diffraction methods. The triiodide is built up from layers of the quarternary ammonium ions n-Pr4N+ and from two independent differently packed centrosymmetric triiodide ions I3- which alternate with each other along [100]. The pentaiodide ion forms slightly puckered almost squared nets perpendicular [001] of iodide ions which are connected with four iodine molecules by secondary bonds. The meshes from twelve iodine atoms include the cations. The centrosymmetric Z-shaped heptaiodide ion is built up from a linear symmetric triiodide ion and two iodine molecules forming twisted rope ladders along [001] which are separated by stacks of cations.
    Notes: [(n-C3H7)4N]I3, [(n-C3H7)4N]I5 und [(n-C3H7)4N]I7 fallen bei der Umsetzung von Tetra(n-propyl)ammoniumiodid [(n-C3H7)4N]I und Iod I2 in Alkohol aus. Die Kristallstrukturen wurden mit Röntgenbeugungsmethoden an Einkristallen bestimmt. Das Triiodid besteht aus Schichten von quartären Ammoniumionen (n-Pr)4N+ und von zwei unabhängigen, unterschiedlich gepackten zentrosymmetrischen Triiodidionen I3-, die sich entlang [100] abwechseln. Das Pentaiodid-Ion bildet leicht gewellte nahezu quadratische Netze senkrecht [001] aus Iodid-Ionen, die mit vier Iodmolekülen über sekundäre Bindungsabstände verknüpft sind und Maschen aus zwölf Iodatomen bilden, in denen die Kationen sitzen. Das zentrosymmetrische Z-förmige Heptaiodid-Ion ist aus einer linear symmetrischen Triiodid-Einheit und zwei Iodmolekülen aufgebaut und zu verdrillten Strickleitern entlang [001] verkettet, die durch Stapel von Kationen voneinander getrennt sind.

The crystal structure is stacked by layers of cations EtTaz+ and of linear symmetric triiodide ions I3- alternating along [0 0 1]. 1,3,5-Tri-iso-propyl-tetrahydro-1,3,5-triazinium triiodide C12H26N3I3 crystallizes triclinically in P1 with a = 822.0(1) pm, b = 832.1(2) pm, c = 1553.6(2) pm, α = 78.26(1)°, β = 76.21(1)°, γ = 77.23(1)° and Z = 2. Mixed layers built up from cations t-BuTaz+ and anions I- follow along [0 1 0]. 1,3,5-Tri-tertiary-butyl-tetrahydro-1,3,5-triazinium triiodide C15H32N3I3 crystallizes orthorhombically in Fdd2 with a = 1772.0(4) pm, b = 2477.8(6) pm, c = 2273.4(5) pm and Z = 16. The crystal structure is stacked by mixed layers of cations t-BuTaz+ and linear symmetric anions I3-. 1,3,5-Tri-tertiary-butyl-tetrahydro-1,3,5-triazinium pentaiodide C15H32N3I5 crystallizes monoclinically in C2/m with a = 1219.5(3) pm, b = 1420.9(3) pm, c = 1539.5(3) pm, β = 94.54(2)° and Z = 4. The crystal structure is built up from alternating cationic (t-BuTaz+) and anionic (symmetry generated I5-) double layers along [1 0 0]. The triiodide parts of different anionic double layers are linked up by iodine bridges I2 to zickzack chains. 1,3,5-Tri-tertiary-butyl-tetrahydro-1,3,5-triazinium heptaiodide C15H32N3I7 crystallizes monoclinically in P21/c with a = 1036.0(2) pm, b = 1768.3(4) pm, c = 1699.5(4) pm, β = 103.11(2)° und Z = 4. The crystal structure shows a three-dimensional network made by the alternating linkage of trigonal-pyramidal and Z-shaped heptaiodide ions.

In der Kristallstruktur befinden sich längs [0 1 0] Kationen t-BuTaz+ und Anionen I- in gemischten Schichten. 1,3,5-Tritertiär-butyl-tetrahydro-1,3,5 triaziniunm-triiodid C15H32N3I3 kristallisiert in der orthorhombischen Raumgruppe Fdd2 mit a = 1772,0(4) pm, b = 2477,8(6) pm, c = 2273,4(5) pm und Z = 16. In der Kristallstruktur folgen entlang [1 0 0] gemischte Schichten von Kationen t-BuTaz+ und isolierten zentrosymmetrischen Anionen I3-. 1,3,5-Tri-tertiär-butyl-tetrahydro-1,3,5-triazinium-pentaiodid C15H32N3I5 kristallisiert in der monoklinen Raumgruppe C2/m mit a = 1219,5(3) pm, b = 1420,9(3) pm, c = 1539,5(3) pm, β = 94,54(2)° und Z = 4. In der Kristallstruktur wechseln sich längs [1 0 0] Doppelschichten von Kationen t-BuTaz+ und symmetrieerzeugten Anionen I5- ab, deren Triiodid-artige Schenkel entlang [0 1 0] über Iod-Brücken zu zickzackförmigen Ketten verknüpft werden. 1,3,5-Tri-tertiär-butyl-tetrahydro-1,3,5-triazinium-heptaiodid C15H32N3I7 kristallisiert in der monoklinen Raumgruppe P21/c mit a = 1036,0(2) pm, b = 1768,3(4) pm, c = 1699,5(4) pm, β = 103,11(2)° und Z = 4. Die Kristallstruktur baut sich längs [0 0 1] aus vernetzten stark gewellten Doppelketten von fehlgeordneten Anionen I7- auf, in deren Zwischenräumen sich die Kationen t-BuTaz+ befinden.

    Description / Table of Contents: Formation of cyclic Amidiniumiodides and -polyiodides from 1,3,5-Trimethyl-hexahydro-1,3,5-triazine and IodineThe reaction of 1,3,5-trimethyl-hexahydro-1,3,5-triazine (CH3NCH2)3 with iodine in the molar ratio (CH3NCH2)3:I2 = 2:1 gives the new compound 1,3,5-trimethyl-tetrahydro-1,3,5-triazinium-iodide C6H14N3I. This iodide adds one mole I2 and forms 1,3,5-trimethyl-tetrahydro-1,3,5-triazinium-triiodide C6H14N3I3. The crystal structure analysis shows a cation, in which two methyl groups and five ring atoms are planar arranged. The third methyl group stands axial to the ring. 1,3,5-Trimethyl-tetrahydro-1,3,5-triazinium-pentaiodide is formed by adding a further mole I2.
    Notes: Die Umsetzung von 1,3,5-Trimethyl-hexahydro-1,3,5-triazin (CH3NCH2)3 mit Iod im Molverhältnis (CH3NCH2)3: I2 = 2:1 ergibt die bislang unbekannte Verbindung 1,3,5-Trimethyl-tetrahydro-1,3,5-triazinium-iodid C6H14N3I. Diese Verbindung lagert ein Mol I2 an und bildet 1,3,5-Trimethyl-tetrahydro-1,3,5-triazinium-triiodid C6H14N3I3. Die Kristallstrukturanalyse zeigt ein Kation, in dem zwei Alkylgruppen gemeinsam mit fünf Ringatomen planar angeordnet sind. Die dritte Alkylgruppe steht axial zum Ring. 1,3,5-Trimethyl-tetrahydro-1,3,5-triazinium-triiodid addiert ein weiteres Äquivalent I2 unter Bildung des entsprechenden Pentaiodids.

On Dimethyldiphenylammoniumpolyiodides (Me2Ph2N)In with n = 3, 13/3, 6, and 8: Preparation and Crystal Structures of a Triiodide (Me2Ph2N)I3, Tridecaiodide (Me2Ph2N)3I13, Dodecaiodide (Me2Ph2N)2I12, and Hexadecaiodide (Me2Ph2N)2I16The new compounds [(CH3)2(C6H5)2N]I3, [(CH3)2(C6H5)2N]3I13, [(CH3)2(C6H5)2N]2I12 and [(CH3)2(C6H5)2N]2I16 have been prepared by the reaction of dimethyldiphenylammonium iodide [(CH3)2(C6H5)2N]I with iodine I2 in ethanol. Their crystal structures have been determined by single crystal X-ray diffraction methods. The structure of the triiodide may be described as a layerlike packing of pairs of nearly linear symmetric anions and tetraedral cations. The tridecaiodide forms zig-zag chains of iodide ions and iodine molecules with the iodide ion also weakly coordinated by two pentaiodide groups. The dodecaiodide is built from two pentaiodide-groups, which are bridged by an iodine molecule and connected with secondary bonds forming double chains. The hexadecaiodide ion forms layers built up from two heptaiodide groups and one iodine molecule. Thus the dimethyldiphenylammonium cation stabilizes a unique series of polyiodides of extraordinary composition and structure.
    Notes: Die neuen Verbindungen [(CH3)2(C6H5)2N]I3, [(CH3)2(C6H5)2N]3I13, [(CH3)2(C6H5)2N]2I12 und [(CH3)2(C6H5)2N]2I16 fallen bei der Umsetzung von Dimethyldiphenylammoniumiodid [(CH3)2(C6H5)2N]I und Iod I2 in Alkohol aus. Ihre Kristallstrukturen wurden mit Röntgenbeugungsmethoden an Einkristallen bestimmt. Das Triiodid besteht aus Schichten von Paaren nahezu gestreckt symmetrischer Anionen und tetraedrischer Kationen. Das Tridecaiodid enthält Zick-zack-Ketten aus Iodmolekülen und Iodid-Ionen, die zusätzlich durch zwei Pentaiodid-Gruppen schwach koordiniert sind. Das Dodecaiodid ist aus zwei Pentaiodid-Gruppen aufgebaut, die über ein Iodmolekül verbrückt und gleichzeitig über sekundäre Bindungen zu Doppelsträngen verkettet sind. Das schichtartig verknüpfte Hexadecaiodid-Ion ist aus zwei Heptaiodid-Gruppen und einem Iodmolekül zusammengesetzt. Das Dimethyldiphenylammonium-Kation bildet folglich eine einzigartige Reihe Polyiodide ungewöhnlicher Zusammensetzung und Struktur.
