Description / Table of Contents: Summary Single blind trials were done on 21 patients with mild chronic bronchial asthma given local treatment of pyridine-4-carboxylic acid-(dexamethasone-21′) ester as an aerosol in doses ranging from 0.125 to 2.0 mg daily. As judged by the number of asthmatic spells and the need for additional antispasmodic medication, the compound was efficient in 16 cases, 11 of which requiring doses of maximally 0.5 mg equivalent to 0.39 mg free dexamethasone. The smallest efficient dose was of 0.125 mg. The treatment was more often beneficial in patients suffering mainly from dyspneic attacks at rest than in patients with prevailing breathlessnes at exertion.
