Notizen: Abstract Application of negative muons to studies of electronic states at oxygen sites of high-T c copper-oxide superconductors as well as 3d transition metal oxides are described. A characteristic feature of the muonic oxygen probes in oxides is discussed. Muonic oxygen can be considered as a nitrogen impurity in the oxides. Around muonic oxygen one hole seems to be introduced and the behavior of the hole depends on the properties of the host oxides. A new impurity problem in strongly correlated electron systems is formulated.
