    Notes: Heat inactivation of polyphenoloxidase (PPO) in sultana grapes between 83° and 98°C followed zero order kinetics with an activation energy of 13.7–16.7 kcal/mol. A high correlation (r = 0.973) was found between the residual PPO activity and darkness of the raisins (Hun-terlab L value) after drying at 50°C. Reaction rate for enzymatic browning increased with higher water activities while non-enzymatic browning showed the typical bell-shaped curve with a maximum around 0.8. Light-colored raisins were obtained without the use of SO2 by pretreating the grapes with a 2 min dip in 93°C water that inactivated PPO and improved mass transfer through the skin. This latter effect was compared to that of other treatments such as ethyl oleate and caustic soda by drying studies and scanning electron microscopy.

    Notes: Zusammenfassung Bei 200 Arbeitern wurde die Zeit, die nach Abschnürung der Finger zur Reduktion des O2Hb zu Hb benötigt wird (R.Z.) durch Spektroskopie des Blutes am Finger festgestellt. Dabei zeigte sich sowohl ohne wie mit vorausgeschickter Atempause, nach letzterer noch ausgesprochener, ein deutlicher Unterschied; am stärksten war die R.Z. bei schwerer Hitzearbeit verkürzt, während die Arbeiter mit Gifteinwirkung (CS2, Cyan) dieselben Werte wie ausgeruhte Schwerarbeiter vor der Arbeit hatten, und zwar die Durchschnitts- und die extremen Werte bei den einzelnen Gruppen. Bei CO-Wirkung scheinen die Verhältnisse ähnlich zu liegen. Es wird in Analogie zu der akuten Cyanwirkung als Ursache der Verlängerung der R.Z. bei Giftwirkung eine Schädigung der Zellatmung angenommen. Im übrigen steigt das O2-Bedürfnis mit der Arbeit und die Parallele der normalen Altersreaktion zur vorzeitigen Abnutzungsreaktion liegt nahe.

    Description: Against the background of EnMAP preparation analyses have been carried out on the status of research in various areas of hyperspectral remote sensing for the use of existing algorithms in the EnMAP application box. The aim was to compose the status of research in Germany and internationally. Therefore, in various fields of expertise applied and accordingly available algorithms and products based on hyperspectral data has been evaluated and documented. The intention has been to demonstrate and to evaluate the added value of hyperspectral remote sensing to multispectral methods for each product. For this purpose analyses have been carried out by different research groups which were based on the specialty and the experience of each group. Hereby a summary was created of each major application perspective and the relevant remote sensing derived variables and significant processing algorithms (state-of-the-art) belonging to this context. Based on this, the research delivers, as a result, a recommendation which of the algorithms should be implemented into the Applikationsbox of EnMAP. Tests of the algorithms or their implementation were not part of the analyses. However, notes have been given on what algorithms should be tested in the context of a detailed preparation phase. An assessment to the further R & D requirements in the development of algorithms has been made on this basis.
