    Notes: We present Fourier transform infrared photoluminescence (PL) and absorption studies on GaAs:Fe to analyze the origin of the Fe-related emission at 3057 cm−1. Temperature-dependent PL spectra show additional hot lines and a characteristic phonon sideband linked to this Fe-related peak. Time-resolved studies, using the 1.06 μm line of a Nd:YAG laser for excitation, reveal a decay time of 1.9±0.3 ms. The long lifetime and the fine-structure splitting fit a model where the transitions take place between the 4T1 excited state and the 6A1 ground state of Fe3+ (3d5) in tetrahedral environment.

    Notes: Ti doped InP layers were grown by atmospheric pressure metalorganic vapor phase epitaxy. Using the commercially available tetrakis(diethylamino)-titanium, we obtained total Ti doping levels up to 1020 cm−3. Photocurrent measurements and deep level transient spectroscopy enabled us to investigate the internal 3d-transitions of Ti3+ (2E→2T2: 546.5 and 550 meV) and the Ti3+/Ti4+ transition (0.62 eV) confirming substitutional incorporation of Ti in InP. The concentration of electrically active Ti is limited to a value of 2.5×1017 cm−3, as determined by InP:Ti:Zn co-doping experiments. Secondary ion mass spectroscopy demonstrated, that oxygen incorporation is one reason for incomplete electrical activity, especially in the lower Ti doping region.

    Notes: Abstract Representatives of the family Myxococcaceae,Myxococcus fulvus andM. virescens as well asArchangium gephyra could be isolated from marine sediments (depth range 5–58 m), collected near the island of Helgoland (North Sea); dunes and rudiments of salt marshes additionally yieldedM. coralloides and the rare speciesMelittangium licenicola andM. boletus (Cystobacteriaceae). In soil samples from the island,M. fulvus, M. virescens, M. coralloides, A. gephyra, Cystobacter fuscus andStigmatella erecta were found. These results were confirmed by data, obtained from the coastal zone of the island of Amrum and marine sediments from various regions. On the other hand samples from shallow fresh water (depth range 0.3–1 m) proved to be richer in species. It is assumed that the myxobacteria found in marine sediments occur as resting cells.

    Description / Table of Contents: Zusammenfassung In den Monaten IX–XII 1986 wurden mit Schwerpunkt in Nordbaden, dazu in Einzelfällen aus dem mittleren Schwarzwald, der Südpfalz sowie bei Mühlacker und Künzelsau, 85 Pilzproben gesammelt. Dabei wurden 34 Arten erfaßt. Gamma-spektrometrisch wurden Cs-134, Cs-137 und das natürliche Nuklid K-40 bestimmt. Die Proben aus der Rheinebene und dem Kraichgau waren im allgemeinen wesentlich geringer belastet als die aus dem Schwarzwald and blieben mit einer Ausnahme unter dem EG-Grenzwert von 600 Bq/kg Radiocäsium. Aus dem Kraichgau wies lediglich eine Probe des Lackbläulings (Laccaria amethystina) mit 1 710 Bq/kg Cs-137 und 766 Bq/kg Cs-134 stark erhöhte Werte auf. Relativ hohe Werte finden sich auch bei Maronen-und Rotfußröhrlingen (Xerocomus badius, X. chrysenteron) sowie beim Trompeten-Pfifferling (Cantharellus tubaeformis). Im Hymenophor wurden höhere Radiocäsiumkonzentrationen gefunden als in den überigen Fruchtkörperteilen. Eine eindeutige Beziehung zwischen dem K-40-Gehalt and dem Gehalt an Cs-Radionukliden war nicht erkennbar. Das Verhältnis Cs-137/Cs-134 lag zwar meistens unter 3,0, erreichte jedoch bei dem auf Birkenholz wachsenden Birkenporling den Wert 11,8. Hier muß das Substrat mehr Radiocäsium aus der Zeit vor dem Reaktorunglück von Tschernobyl als aus der Zeit danach enthalten haben.
    Notes: Summary From September to December of 1986, 85 samples of 34 species of wild mushrooms were collected, mostly in northern Baden and occasionally in neighboring areas. Cs-137, Cs-134, and the natural nuclide K-40 were determined by gamma-spectrometry. Samples from the Rhine Valley and the Kraichgau were generally much less contaminated than those from the Black Forest. With one exception, their radiocesium levels were below the Common Market limit of 600 Bq/kg. The exception was a sample ofLaccaria amethystina with 1710 Bq/kg Cs-137 and 766 Bq/kg Cs-134. Relatively high levels were also found inXerocomus badius, X. chrysenteron andCantharellus tubaeformis. The hymenophore contained higher concentrations of radiocesium than the other parts of the body of the fruit. No correlation between the concentration of K-40 and that of the Cs nuclides was found. The ratio of Cs-137: Cs-134 was usually below 3 but reached the value of 11.8 inPiptoporus betulinus growing on birch wood. In this case, the substrate must have contained more radiocesium from the time before the Chernobyl reactor accident than from the time thereafter.
