    Description: Within the framework of the Russian-German BMBF-funded TRANSDRIFT project moored upward-looking Acoustic Doppler Current Profilers (ADCPs) were deployed in the Laptev Sea between 2013 and 2015. Two upward-looking Workhorse 300 kHz Sentinel ADCPs (manufactured by Teledyne RDI) were deployed at the 1893 and Taymyr stations in September 2013. During a Russian expedition in September 2014 both moorings were recovered and partly redeployed at the two stations until September 2015 (one upward-looking ADCP was substituted in 2014). The four data sets (ADCP_BT_1893_1314.txt, ADCP_BT_Taymyr_1314.txt, ADCP_BT_1893_1415.txt and ADCP_BT_Taymyr_1415.txt) are named to indicate the location of the deployment (station name) and the sampling period. Each file contains hourly values of error velocity (in mm/s) and range (beams 1 to 4, in m) data that was recorded using the ADCPs bottom track (BT) mode. Additionally, the instruments roll and pitch values (in deg) are included. The deployment sheets are attached as well. All moorings were equipped with numerous other instruments. Their data has been published separately.

Two ULS of the type Ice Profiling Sonar 5 (420 kHz, manufactured by ASL Environmental Sciences) were deployed at the 1893 and Taymyr stations in September 2013. During a Russian expedition in September 2014 both moorings were recovered and redeployed at the two station until September 2015. The four labels (ULS_1893_1314, ULS_Taymyr_1314, ULS_1893_1415 and ULS_Taymyr_1415) are named to indicate the Location of the deployment (station name) and the sampling period. Each dataset contains values of daily averaged sea ice draft (in m). The deployment sheets are attached as well.

    Description: Measuring temperature and salinity profiles in the world's oceans is crucial to understanding ocean dynamics and its influence on the heat budget, the water cycle, the marine environment and on our climate. Since 1983 the German research vessel and icebreaker Polarstern has been the platform of numerous CTD (conductivity, temperature, depth instrument) deployments in the Arctic and the Antarctic. We report on a unique data collection spanning 33 years of polar CTD data. In total 131 data sets (1 data set per cruise leg) containing data from 10 063 CTD casts are now freely available. During this long period five CTD types with different characteristics and accuracies have been used. Therefore the instruments and processing procedures (sensor calibration, data validation, etc.) are described in detail. This compilation is special not only with regard to the quantity but also the quality of the data - the latter indicated for each data set using defined quality codes. The complete data collection includes a number of repeated sections for which the quality code can be used to investigate and evaluate long-term changes. Beginning with 2010, the salinity measurements presented here are of the highest quality possible in this field owing to the introduction of the OPTIMARE Precision Salinometer.

    Description: The data set contains raw datafiles from instruments that were moored in the Laptev Sea between 2013 and 2016. The moorings were operated as part of the Russian-German BMBF-funded Transdrift project. Four moorings (1893-T1, Kotelnyy, Vilkitzky, Taymyr-T1) were deployed in September 2013 and recovered in September 2014 aboard the RV Viktor Buinitsky. During the 2014 expedition, five moorings were re-deployed, two of which were recovered in 2015 (Taymyr-T1-14 and 1893-T1-14) and three in 2016 (Vilkitzky-T1-14, Vilkitzky-T2-14, Vilkitzky-T3-14) by a Russian expedition to the Laptev Sea. The attached files include raw data from numerous SBE37-CTDs, as well as some turbidity meters and 2 records from a Wetlabs Ecotriplet. The moorings also contained ADCP current profilers, which are not included in this file due to limitations in the Russian-German data agreements. A spreadsheet with coordinates and instruments as well as mooring schematics are included in the attachment.

The mooring was deployed during the WAPITI expedition on James Clark Ross (JR16004), and recovered during the COSMUS expedition with Polarstern (PS124). The attached archive contains data from 1 RCM7 (21 meters above bottom (mab herafter) and sampling interval (sint hereafter) 2h), 13 SBE56 (22,56,81,106,159,184,6508,260,285,310,335,360,385 mab, sint: 120 s), 4 SBE37 (31, 134, 209, 410 mab, sint: 600 s), 1 RDI ADCP 75 kHz (235 mab, upwardlooking, sint: 2h), 1 SBE39 (435 mab, sint: 900s).
