Description / Table of Contents: Transition Metal Carbyne Complexes, XIII: Syntheses and Properties of mer-Tricarbonylhalogeno(methylcarbyne)(timethylphosphine or -arsine, -stibine)chromium Complexescis-Tetracarbonyl(methoxymethylcarbene)(trimethylphosphine or -arsine, -stibine)chromium(0) complexes react with boron trihalides BX3 (X = Cl, Br, I) under splitting off of the methoxy group and substitution of a CO ligand by a halide ion. In the resulting carbyne complexes the CO groups are meridionally arranged. The halogen atom is trans-positioned to the carbyne ligand. The spectroscopic data of the new compounds are discussed.
Notes: cis-Tetracarbonyl(methoxymethylcarben)(trimethylphosphin bzw.

Description / Table of Contents: Transition Metal Carbene Complexes, CV. Pentacarbonyl[alkoxy(triphenylsilyl)carbene]- and Pentacarbonyl[dimethylamino(triphenylsilyl)-carbene]chromium, -molybdenum, -tungstenHexacarbonylchromium, -molybdenum, or -tungsten react with triphenylsilyllithium and subsequently with alkylating agents, e. g., trimethyl- and triethyloxonium tetrafluoroborate, or methyl fluorosulfonate, to yield the pentacarbonyl[alkoxy(triphenylsilyl)carbene] complexes (CO)5MC-(OR)Si(C6H5)3 (M=Cr, Mo, W; R=CH3, C2H5) (1-6). Their aminolysis with dimethylamine leads to the corresponding pentacarbonyl[dimethylamino(triphenylsilyl)carbene] complexes (CO)5MC[N(CH3)2]Si(C6H5)3 (M=Cr, Mo, W) (7-9). Properties and spectroscopic investigations of the partly thermolabile compounds are reported. X-ray structure analyses of (CO)5MC(OC2H5)Si(C6H5)3 (M=Cr, Mo) prove the very short M—Ccarbene bond lengths of 200 ± 2 pm (M=Cr) and 215 ± 2 pm (M=Mo).

Description / Table of Contents: Transition Metal Carbyne Complexes, XXXVI. Nucleophilic Substitution on trans-Tetracarbonyl(organylcarbyne)(tetrafluoroborato) Complexes of Chromium and Tungsten with Triphenylphosphine, Cyanide and ThiocyanatePentacarbonyl[methoxy(phenyl)carbene]- and -[methoxy(methyl)carbene]tungsten(0) (1a, b) react in boron trifluoride dimethyletherate in the presence of a large excess of BF3 to form trans- (BF4)(CO)4WCR complexes (2a, b). In these two tungsten complexes 2a, b as well as in the analogous chromium complex mer-(BF4)(CO)3[P(CH3)3]CrCCH3 (4) the BF4 ligand is displaced easily by nucleophilic reagents. With thiocyanate, cyanide, and triphenylphosphine the corresponding neutral trans-isothiocyanato (6a, b) and trans-cyano complexes (7) as well as the cationic trans-(organylcarbyne)(triphenylphosphine)metal complexes (3, 5) are obtained similarly at low temperatures.

Description / Table of Contents: Transition Metal Carbyne Complexes, IX: Reaction of Pentacarbonyl(hydroxyorganylcarbene)tungsten Complexes with Dicyclohexylcarbodiimide (DCCD) to Form Binuclear Carbene Carbyne ComplexesPentacarbonyl(hydroxyorganylcarbene)tungsten complexes react with dicyclohexylcarbodiimide (DCCD) to yield the binuclear carbene carbyne complexes 2a-d and 3 by intermolecular elimination of water and substitution of the trans-Co-ligand by an acylpentacarbonylmetallate group. The constitution of the carbene carbyne complexes is elucidated by their i. r., 1H n. m. r., and 13C. n. m. r. spectra and reactions with tetraalkylammonium halides, which produce trans-tetracarbonylhalogeno(organylcarbyne)tungsten complexes and tetraalkylammonium acylpentacarbonylmetallates.
