Abstract: Multi-story buildings are important components of urban infrastructures due to their undeniable advantages. However, their structures are characterized by the mass distributed in height and a great slenderness leading to its earthquake vulnerability. Further, their typical structures designed by the conventional method provide low earthquake resistance. The seismic isolation bearings are considered as an effective solution for the structure located in regions of high and moderate seismic activity. The paper presents the procedure to calculate the isolated building structure located in the moderate seismicity areas such as Vietnam. The bilinear hysteretic model is employed to determine the properties of the isolator through the simplified procedure. Three-dimensional model of a typical 11-story building structure is analyzed to evaluate the effect of the isolator on seismic responses of building. The modal analysis and time history analysis are performed using Etabs V17, with the input record taken according to the earthquake ground motion in Hanoi-Vietnam, calculated by the Vietnamese code. The result shows the high effectiveness of isolator on reducing the seismic effect.

Abstract: Recently, we have proposed a general method to probe the whole range of degrees of orientation based on the time-frequency profile of high-order harmonic generation (HHG) but for perfectly aligned polar molecules only. In this study, we expand the previous results by considering the imperfect alignment of an ensemble of polar molecules. The “experimental” HHGs with molecular alignment distribution are simulated by numerically solving the time-dependent Schrödinger equation. The results show that, for high and moderate degrees of alignment, the proposed method is still effective and robust. For an ensemble with low degrees of alignment, the systematic error is significant due to the inaccuracy caused by the molecules aligned at large angles to the laser electric field.

Abstract: The semiconductor tracker (SCT) is one of the tracking systems for charged particles in the ATLAS detector. It consists of 4088 silicon strip sensor modules. During Run 2 (2015–2018) the Large Hadron Collider delivered an integrated luminosity of 156 fb -1 to the ATLAS experiment at a centre-of-mass proton-proton collision energy of 13 TeV. The instantaneous luminosity and pile-up conditions were far in excess of those assumed in the original design of the SCT detector. Due to improvements to the data acquisition system, the SCT operated stably throughout Run 2. It was available for 99.9% of the integrated luminosity and achieved a data-quality efficiency of 99.85%. Detailed studies have been made of the leakage current in SCT modules and the evolution of the full depletion voltage, which are used to study the impact of radiation damage to the modules.

Abstract: Customer’s satisfaction plays the most important role in shaping continuance usage intention (i.e. loyalty). Therefore, much scientific effort has been invested in exploring the factors contributing to the satisfaction of passengers using the bus, air, intercity rail, and metro services. Notwithstanding, little is known about the determinants of customers’ satisfaction with the services offered by long-distance bus stations. Aiming at filling this research gap, the current study analyzed the passengers’ satisfaction in the case of Mien Dong station in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. The used data from 300 passengers were collected in August 2022 through face-to-face interviews. As regards the analytical methods, the Exploratory Factor Analysis was applied to the responses to the attitudinal items in order to extract underlying constructs, which were then used together with demographical variables to fit an ordinal logit model. The findings show that most demographics were irrelevant, but habit was a significant predictor. Specifically, the higher usage frequency was involved in the lower level of satisfaction. All constructs derived from EFA (Information availability, Customer services, Reliability, Comfort, Safety and Security) were positively associated with the satisfaction level. Among latent constructs, security & safety and comfort were the strongest while information availability was the weakest. Based on the results of influential factors, some practical implications were suggested. Since Ho Chi Minh City is a typical megacity in developing countries, our findings are expected to be useful for other research in settings beyond Vietnamese cities/provinces.

Abstract: The development of electric motorcycles depends on the motorcycle usage rate in each country, which is crucial in forming sustainable urban development. In this study, we investigated determinants of using e-motorcycles among students in Hanoi, Vietnam. Students are the research subject due to their critical role in shaping future travel patterns. The used data were collected by surveying 290 students from three universities. We found that the prevalence of adopting electric motorcycles among students is 11%. The results of binary logit regression show that female students in Hanoi living within distances between home and school from 3 to 5 km are more inclined to utilize electric motorcycles. The perception of usefulness and environmental concern are facilitators of the adoption. However, perceived ease of use is not a significant predictor. This study plays a role as an exploratory analysis of the actual use of electric motorcycles. However, in order to have a better understanding of the motives behind the choice of electric vehicles for students and other population segments, more research in different settings is needed.

Abstract: In this study, a thin film of methylammonium lead iodide (MAPbI 3 ) was employed as the switching layer in the metal/MAPbI 3 /FTO devices. Two metals, Ag and Cr, were used as active and inert top electrodes to govern the hysteresis effect of memory devices, respectively. While the Cr/MAPbI 3 /FTO device displayed an analog resistive switching (RS) behavior and a comparatively low ON/OFF ratio of 10, the Ag/MAPbI 3 /FTO structure displayed digital bipolar RS and a high ON/OFF ratio of 10 2 . The density functional theory simulations suggest that these various behaviors may be caused by variations in the mutual interaction between the iodine vacancy defect and the metal contact properties. The SET process involved switching both devices from a high-resistance state to a low-resistance one using the space charge-limited current mechanism. In the RESET process, the Ag-electrode device is allocated the Poole–Frenkel emission mechanism, and the Cr-electrode device is followed the Fowler–Nordheim tunneling mechanism. The formation and dissociation of iodine vacancy filaments via the dielectric layer were identified as the RS mechanism in both devices. The findings show that organic–inorganic hybrid perovskite has a strong potential for data storage.
