    Description: This data set contains volume transport time series derived from deep-sea moorings deployed in the North Atlantic Eastern Boundary (EB) region at Goban Spur. The moorings are part of an array that represents the eastern extension of the basin-wide "North Atlantic Changes" (NOAC) ocean observatory deployed along 47°N. The first time series (observed) is obtained from 10-day low-pass filtered current meter measurments at mooring EB1 and EB3 from 2017 to 2019. The second time series (regressed) is extendend to the period 1993 to 2019 applying a multi-linear regression model on geostrophic surface velocities derived from satellite altimetry.

    Description: During Maria S. Merian cruise MSM83 station-based vertical profiles of horizontal current velocity were measured using a pair of 300-kHz-ADCPs lowered with the CTD/rosette. The major objective of the cruise was to investigate the strength and the intra- to interannual variability of the oceanic circulation and the water mass structure in the southern and central subpolar North Atlantic. In total 104 cast were made during the period from May 17 to June 15, 2019. The data have been processed with LDEO Software Version IX-13.

    Description: The CTD data on cruise MSM83 contain oceaninc measurements of temperature, salinity, oxygen and pressure at 104 stations. The data were collected with the research vessel Maria S., Merian during cruise MSM83. Region: subpolar Northa Atlantic, 11°W-47°W, 39°N-53°N Ports: Las Palmas - St. John's Date: May 17 - June 15, 2019. The data where collected by a CTD device of type SBE 9. The CTD was mounted to a metal frame with 22 water sample bottles, which was lowered from the sea surface down to 10 m above the seafloor. The sampling frequecy was 24 Hz, the raw data were then interpolated on 1 dbar intervals. Salinity and oxygen data from the CTD were calibrated by comparison with samples from the water bottles. The bottle salinity was analysed by a salinometer of type Guildline Autosal 8400A, bottle oxygen samples by Winkler titration. The accuracy of the calibrated CTD measurements is: 1 dbar for pressure, 0.001 °C for temperature, 0.0025 for salinity, 3.0 µmol/kg for oxygen.
