Abstract: This study aims to present an effort for an encounter between Christian faith and science in Alister E. McGrath’s thinking. The process of encountering both Christian faith and science is mediated by Christian natural theology. Christian natural theology is the result of rethinking conventional natural theology by McGrath. This is carried out because the meaning of conventional natural theology as an interface of Christian faith and science is not in accordance with Christian faith. The efforts to encounter Christian faith and science through conventional natural theology are something that is not possible, because conventional natural theology is denoted as pure theology centred on the rationality of scientific thought alone. In this article, we will show how Christian natural theology as a result of thinking by McGrath can be a medium for an encounter between Christian faith and science. The analysis of this article is generally based on the writings of McGrath, which are only partially reconciled with the views of several other theologies. Data collection was carried out through a literature study and described descriptively. The result of the research is a description of the encounter between Christian faith and science mediated by Christian natural theology. McGrath established Christian natural theology on observations in critical reality, Christian history and the word of God (Gn 1 and 2), allowing the human intellect to have a strong relationship with the order and beauty of nature that God created. This is the reason why the encounter between Christian faith and science based on McGrath’s concept of thought is more likely to reveal the truth in the reality of the Christian faith’s life.Intradisciplinary and/or interdisciplinary implications: This study recommends that efforts be made to identify faith, science and natural theology in the work of Alister E. McGrath. This article has contributed to highlighting natural theology, which is still under long discussion, especially in the context of the Christian faith and the ambiguity of nature, which is also important in various disciplines, including theology, natural science and science.

Abstract: The 2019 positive Indian Ocean Dipole is a rare extreme event since 1900, second only to the strongest in 1997 Unique to the 2019 event is an air‐sea heat flux forcing the growth of cold anomalies in the eastern Indian Ocean, rather than damping The unique feature is due to a windspeed‐induced increase in evaporation, supported by a warming pattern as projected for a warming climate

Abstract: An overly steep west‐to‐east upward tilt in the climatological thermocline of the tropical Indian Ocean persists in latest climate models The overly steep thermocline tilt leads to overly high sea surface temperature variability in the southeastern equatorial Indian Ocean The bias in the tilt limits its further incline under greenhouse warming, leading to an under‐projected increase in SST variability

Abstract: Scoring quality has been recognized as one of the important aspects that should be of concern to both test developers and users. This study aimed to investigate the effect of scoring correction and model fit on the estimation of ability parameters and person fit in the polytomous item response theory. The result of 165 students in the Statistics course (SATS4410) test at one of the universities in Indonesia was used to answer the problems in this study. The polytomous data obtained from scoring the test results were analyzed using the Item Response Theory (IRT) approach with the Partial Credit Model (PCM), Graded Response Model (GRM), and Generalized Partial Credit Model (GPCM). The effect of scoring correction and model fit on the estimation of ability and person fit was tested using multivariate analysis. Among the three models used, GRM showed the best fit based on p-value and RSMEA. The results of the analysis also showed that there was no significant effect of scoring correction and model fit on the estimation of the test taker’s ability and person fit. From the results of this study, we recommend the importance of evaluating the levels or categories used in scoring student work on a test.

Abstract: Three popular models are used to describe the characteristics of the test items and estimate the ability of examinees under the dichotomous IRT model, namely the one-, two-, and three-parameter logistic models. The three-item parameters are discriminating power, difficulty, and pseudo-guessing. In the development of the dichotomous IRT model, carelessness or upper asymptote parameter was proposed, which forms a four-parameter logistic (4PL) model to accommodate a condition where a high-ability examinee gives an incorrect response to a test item when he/she should be able to respond to the test item correctly. However, the carelessness parameter and the 4PL model have not been widely accepted and used due to several factors, and people’s understanding of that parameter and strategies for estimating it is still inadequate. Therefore, this study aims to shed light on ideas underlying the 4PL model, the meaning of the carelessness parameter, and strategies used to estimate that parameter based on the extant literature. The focus of this study was then extended to demonstrating practical examples of estimating item and person parameters using the 4PL model using empirical data on responses of 1,000 students from the Indonesia Open University (Universitas Terbuka) on 21 of 30 multiple-choice items on the Business English test, a paper-and-pencil test. We mainly analyzed empirical data using the ‘mirt’ package in RStudio. We present the analysis results coherently so that IRT users would have a sufficient understanding of the 4PL model and the carelessness parameter, and they can estimate item and person parameters under the 4PL model.

Abstract: 〈 p 〉 This paper relates to outcome and impact based evaluation (OIBE) of a research program implementation at an Indonesian public research institute (PRI) ‘A’. The major funding for PRIs in Indonesia comes from government. It is  very essential therefore, for variuos parties including policy makers  to be informed about meaningful and relevant evaluation of the outcome and impact of such PRIto the welfare of the people, to technology development and innovation, and to the policy improvements in significant ways. The mixed-method with good blend of qualitative and quantitative analysis is used in the case study of a competitive research program (CRP) of PRI ‘A’. The case study demonstrates that the outcomes and impacts of CRP are found in the form of economic, social, and environment improvements in the communities; managerial change and innovation of technology and process for SMEs as well as improved existing policies; and increased capabilities of researchers at PRI. Recommendations of this study is that PRI’A’ should improve their research management and policy, strengthen collaboration with firms, including more human resources mobility is required to facilitate research collaborations and co-production process, and to have clear guidelines and targets of outcomes and impacts for their research results. 〈 /p 〉 Keywords: outcome, impact, Public Research Institute, evaluation, Indonesia

Abstract: 〈 p 〉 This paper describes the results of scientometric studies in the energy sector, especially in the field of biofuel and or biodiesel in Indonesia using a mixed method. Quantitative research using bibliometric basics and content analysis with text mining is triangulated with the results from in-depth interview with several prominent researchers in this field. Content analysis is done with topic modeling method using abstract of papers indexed in Scopus. This article reports on the results of research scientometric study in the energy sector especially in the field of biofuel and or biodiesel in Indonesia, which is expected to provide input and recommendations in the national priority program energy research policies and strategies. The impact is the making of national research policies based on evidence. 〈 /p 〉
