Abstract: The semiconductor tracker (SCT) is one of the tracking systems for charged particles in the ATLAS detector. It consists of 4088 silicon strip sensor modules. During Run 2 (2015–2018) the Large Hadron Collider delivered an integrated luminosity of 156 fb -1 to the ATLAS experiment at a centre-of-mass proton-proton collision energy of 13 TeV. The instantaneous luminosity and pile-up conditions were far in excess of those assumed in the original design of the SCT detector. Due to improvements to the data acquisition system, the SCT operated stably throughout Run 2. It was available for 99.9% of the integrated luminosity and achieved a data-quality efficiency of 99.85%. Detailed studies have been made of the leakage current in SCT modules and the evolution of the full depletion voltage, which are used to study the impact of radiation damage to the modules.

Abstract: In view of the problem of low energy collection efficiency and low efficiency of photovoltaic power supply modules in wireless sensor networks, a maximum power point tracking algorithm suitable for photovoltaic power supply of wireless sensor nodes is proposed. Firstly, the photovoltaic cell model is analyzed. Based on this, the traditional maximum power point tracking algorithm is analyzed. Combining with the advantages of disturbance observing method and load current maximization method, the problem of low working efficiency and low energy collection efficiency of functional modules is solved. Current observation method maximum power point tracking algorithm, and complete the relevant hardware circuit design. Experimental results show that the power consumption of MPPT circuit is low, and the efficiency caused by environmental factors is very small. The efficiency is kept above 90% and the overall system efficiency is about 87%, which provides a stable and reliable photovoltaic power supply for WSN nodes.

Abstract: This study aims to develop and validate a nomogram for predicting 1- and 2-year generalization probabilities in patients with ocular myasthenia gravis (OMG). Methods In total, 501 eligible patients with OMG treated at seven tertiary hospitals in China between January 2015 and May 2019 were included. The primary outcome measure was disease generalization. A nomogram for predicting 1- and 2-year generalization probabilities was constructed using a stepwise Cox regression model. Nomogram performance was quantified using C-indexes and calibration curves. Two-year cumulative generalization rates were analyzed using the Kaplan−Meier method for distinct nomogram-stratified risk groups. The clinical usefulness of the nomogram was evaluated using decision curve analysis (DCA). Result The eligible patients were randomly divided into a development cohort (n=351, 70%) and a validation cohort (n=150, 30%). The final model included five variables: sex, onset age, repetitive nerve stimulation findings, acetylcholine receptor antibody test results, and thymic status. The model demonstrated good discrimination (C-indexes of 0.733 and 0.788 in the development and validation cohorts, respectively) and calibration, with good agreement between actual and nomogram-estimated generalization probabilities. Kaplan−Meier curves revealed higher 2-year cumulative generalization rates in the high-risk group than that in the low-risk group. DCA demonstrated a higher net benefit of nomogram-assisted decisions compared to treatment of all patients or none. Conclusion The nomogram model can predict 1- and 2-year generalization probabilities in patients with OMG and stratified these patients into distinct generalization risk groups. The nomogram has potential to aid neurologists in selecting suitable patients for initiating immunotherapy and for enrolment in clinical trials of risk-modifying treatments.

Abstract: Pro-opiomelanocortin (POMC) neurons are important for the regulation of body weight and glucose balance. The inhibitory tone to POMC neurons is mediated primarily by the GABA receptors. However, the detailed mechanisms and functions of GABA receptors are not well understood. The α5 subunit of GABA A receptor, Gabra5, is reported to regulate feeding, and we found that Gabra5 is highly expressed in POMC neurons. To explore the function of Gabra5 in POMC neurons, we knocked down Gabra5 specifically from mature hypothalamic POMC neurons using the clustered regularly interspaced short palindromic repeats (CRISPR)-Cas9 strategy. This POMC-specific knock-down of Gabra5 did not affect body weight or food intake in either male or female mice. Interestingly, the loss of Gabra5 caused significant increases in the firing frequency and resting membrane potential, and a decrease in the amplitude of the miniature inhibitory postsynaptic current (mIPSC) in male POMC neurons. However, the loss of Gabra5 only modestly decreased the frequency of mIPSC in female POMC neurons. Consistently, POMC-specific knock-down of Gabra5 significantly improved glucose tolerance in male mice but not in female mice. These results revealed a sexually dimorphic role of Gabra5 in POMC neuron activity and glucose balance, independent of body weight control.

Abstract: The aim of this study is comparing gray matter alterations in SCZ pediatric patients with those suffering from obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) based on a systematic review and an activation likelihood estimation (ALE) meta-analysis. Methods A systematic literature search was performed in PubMed, Elsevier, and China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI). A systematic review and an ALE meta-analysis were performed to quantitatively examine brain gray matter alterations. Results Children and adolescents with schizophrenia had decreased gray matter volume (GMV) mainly in the prefrontal cortex (PFC), temporal cortex (such as the middle temporal gyrus and transverse temporal gyrus), and insula, while children and adolescents with OCD mainly had increased GMV in the PFC and the striatum (including the lentiform nucleus and caudate nucleus), and decreased GMV in the parietal cortex. Conclusions Our results suggest that gray matter abnormalities in the PFC may indicate homogeneity between the two diseases. In children and adolescents, structural alterations in schizophrenia mainly involve the fronto-temporal and cortico-insula circuits, whereas those in OCD mainly involve the prefrontal-parietal and the prefrontal-striatal circuits.

Abstract: The Dongsha Basin is a large Mesozoic basin extended from the northern South China Sea (SCS) to onshore South China. Though long-term uplift and denudation occurred since the end of the Mesozoic, still thick Mesozoic strata (up to 5,000 m) relict over the Dongsha waters where lies the largest depression, Chaoshan Depression, covering an area of 3.7 × 10 4  km 2 . It was confirmed by a drilling hole, the well LF35-1-1, that high organic carbon-bearing marine Jurassic layers are present in the depression. However, due to the complexity of the superposed Mesozoic and Cenozoic tectonism and poor imaging quality in previous surveys, the petroleum geology remains poorly understood in view of the deep basin structure, the Mesozoic hydrocarbon migration conditions, and the oil–gas accumulation mechanism. In recent surveys, the seismic imaging quality has been significantly improved by employing long and quasi-3D seismic streamer techniques. Correlating with the regional geology onshore the South China, drilling data of the Well LF35-1-1, and well-tying seismic profiles, it is found that two sets of source rocks are developed in the semi-closed gulf during the Upper Triassic-Lower Jurassic and the Upper Jurassic. Their effective thicknesses are estimated as 495 m and 600 m, respectively, being hopeful with high hydrocarbon generation potentials. During the Dongsha Movement that occurred in the late Cenozoic, deep faults have been extensively activated to disturb the overlying sequences, even in some places breaking through the seafloor. A potential trap structure, DS-A, is found in an intra-sag bulge which is bounded by antithetic and synthetic faults. The oil and gas generated in the neighboring sags can migrate along the faults into reservoir layers at higher levels. The antithetic faults also play the role of seal for oil and gas from the hanging wall. Apparent flat bright spots appearing within the DS-A trap indicate likely entrapment of layered petroleum. The synthetic faults on the opposite side of the DS-A structure, although fails to seal oil–gas reservoirs, provide plumbing channels for oil and gas to leak to the shallow layers above which a few pockmarks and mud volcanoes are visible. As the water depth of the continental slope there ranges from 300 m to 2000 m, it is likely for the leaked gas to form natural gas hydrates. A close cogenetic interrelation exists between the natural gas hydrates at the seafloor and oil–gas reservoirs in the deep.

Abstract: This study aimed to evaluate the fermentation quality, bacterial community, and nitrate content of sorghum-sudangrass silage with two ensiling densities [550 kg fresh weight (FW)/m 3 (low density, LD) and 650 kg FW/m 3 (high density, HD)] stored at two temperatures [10°C (low temperature, LT) and 25°C (normal temperature, NT)] for 60 days. The fermentation parameters, microbial counts, bacterial community, nutritional composition, and nitrate and nitrite levels were assessed. The pH and ammonia nitrogen (N) in all silages were below 4.0 and 80 g/kg total N, respectively. Compared with LT treatments, NT treatments had lower pH and lactic acid (LA) bacteria and yeasts counts and contained higher LA and LA/acetic acid (LA/AA) ( p & lt; 0.05). The LT-LD contained more ammonia–N than LT-HD ( p & lt; 0.05) and had higher nitrate and lower nitrate degradation than other treatments ( p & lt; 0.05). Lactobacillus was the most dominant genus with all treatments (57.2–66.9%). The LA, LA/AA, and abundances of Pantoea , Pseudomonas , and Enterobacter in the silage negatively correlated with nitrate concentration and positively correlated with nitrate degradation ( p & lt; 0.05). Moreover, pH and ammonia–N were positively correlated with nitrate concentration and negatively correlated with nitrate degradation ( p & lt; 0.05). Overall, all silage had satisfactory fermentation quality, and the silage with HD and NT had better fermentation quality and higher nitrate degradation. The bacterial communities in all silages were dominated by Lactobacillus . The nitrate degradation during the fermentation process might be related to the fermentation quality and the activity of Pantoea , Pseudomonas , and Enterobacter in silage.
