    Abstract: The semiconductor tracker (SCT) is one of the tracking systems for charged particles in the ATLAS detector. It consists of 4088 silicon strip sensor modules. During Run 2 (2015–2018) the Large Hadron Collider delivered an integrated luminosity of 156 fb -1 to the ATLAS experiment at a centre-of-mass proton-proton collision energy of 13 TeV. The instantaneous luminosity and pile-up conditions were far in excess of those assumed in the original design of the SCT detector. Due to improvements to the data acquisition system, the SCT operated stably throughout Run 2. It was available for 99.9% of the integrated luminosity and achieved a data-quality efficiency of 99.85%. Detailed studies have been made of the leakage current in SCT modules and the evolution of the full depletion voltage, which are used to study the impact of radiation damage to the modules.

    Abstract: We present the observational results from a detailed timing analysis of the black hole candidate EXO 1846–031 during its outburst in 2019 with the observations of Insight -HXMT, NICER and MAXI . This outburst can be classified roughly into four different states. Type-C quasi-periodic oscillations (QPOs) observed by NICER (about 0.1–6 Hz) and Insight -HXMT (about 0.7–8 Hz) are also reported in this work. Meanwhile, we study various physical quantities related to QPO frequency. The QPO rms–frequency relationship in the energy band 1–10 keV indicates that there is a turning pointing in frequency around 2 Hz, which is similar to that of GRS 1915+105. A possible hypothesis for the relationship above may be related to the inclination of the source, which may require a high inclination to explain it. The relationships between QPO frequency and QPO rms, hardness, total fractional rms and count rate have also been found in other transient sources, which can indicate that the origin of type–C QPOs is non-thermal.

    Abstract: The Gravitational Wave High-energy Electromagnetic Counterpart All-sky Monitor (GECAM) is a pair of microsatellites (i.e., GECAM-A and GECAM-B) dedicated to monitoring gamma-ray transients including the high-energy electromagnetic counterparts of gravitational waves, such as gamma-ray bursts, soft gamma-ray repeaters, solar flares, and terrestrial gamma-ray flashes. Since launch in 2020 December, GECAM-B has detected hundreds of astronomical and terrestrial events. For these bursts, localization is the key for burst identification and classification as well as follow-up observations in multiple wavelengths. Here, we propose a Bayesian localization method with Poisson data with Gaussian background profile likelihood to localize GECAM bursts based on the distribution of burst counts in detectors with different orientations. We demonstrate that this method can work well for all kinds of bursts, especially extremely short ones. In addition, we propose a new method to estimate the systematic error of localization based on a confidence level test, which can overcome some problems of the existing method in the literature. We validate this method by Monte Carlo simulations, and then apply it to a burst sample with accurate location and find that the mean value of the systematic error of GECAM-B localization is ∼2.°5. By considering this systematic error, we can obtain a reliable localization probability map for GECAM bursts. Our methods can be applied to other gamma-ray monitors.

    Abstract: In order to filter the impulse noise existing in the weld surface defect images, the traditional median filtering will dim image, even destroy some details in the image, We put forward a new filtering algorithm based on dual threshold Criterion. This way distinguishes the noise point and signal location in the first, and it only doing median filter to the noise point. Lastly, it solves the image’s boundary. We can find it when compared to the traditional median filtering and modified extremum median filtering, the way in this article can be good for filtration, and can keep the image’s details, which have obvious advantage.

    Abstract: Fluorocarbon films were deposited using a Pulsed Plasma Thruster. By means of mass spectrum analysis, the compositions of the Pulsed Plasma Thruster plume were studied. The microstructure and chemical bonding nature of the films were investigated by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy. The plume consists primarily of C, F, CF, CF 2 , CF 3 , amounts of thruster body materials are detected as well. Five chemical bonds, CF 3 , CF 2 , CF, C-CF x , and elemental carbon bonds are observed on the surface of all the deposited films, the content of the various chemical bonds change with deposited angle, the F/C ratio reaches a minimum value of 0.7643 at 15 degree, and increases gradually with deposited angle increasing from 15 degree to 60 degree.

    Abstract: The Tachinidae are natural enemies of many lepidopteran and coleopteran pests of crops, forests, and fruits. However, host-tachinid parasitoid interactions have been largely unexplored. In this study, we investigated the effects of tachinids on host biological traits, using Exorista japonica , a generalist parasitoid, and the silkworm Bombyx mori , its lepidopteran host, as models. We observed that E. japonica parasitoidism did not affect silkworm larval body weight gain and cocooning rate, whereas they caused shortened duration of molting from the final instar to the pupal stage, abnormal molting from larval to pupal stages, and a subsequent decrease in host emergence rate. Moreover, a decrease in juvenile hormone (JH) titer and an increase in 20-hydroxyecdysone (20E) titer in the hemolymph of parasitized silkworms occurred. The transcription of JH and 20E responsive genes was downregulated in mature parasitized hosts, but upregulated in parasitized prepupae while Fushi tarazu factor 1 ( Ftz-f1 ), a nuclear receptor essential in larval ecdysis, showed dramatically reduced expression in parasitized hosts at both the mature and prepupal stages. Moreover, the transcriptional levels of BmFtz-f1 and its downstream target genes encoding cuticle proteins were downregulated in epidermis of parasitized hosts. Meanwhile, the content of trehalose was decreased in the hemolymph, while chitin content in the epidermis was increased in parasitized silkworm prepupae. These data reveal that the host may fine-tune JH and 20E synthesis to shorten developmental duration to combat established E. japonica infestation, while E. japonica silences BmFtz-f1 transcription to inhibit host pupation. This discovery highlights the novel target mechanism of tachinid parasitoids and provides new clues to host/tachinid parasitoid relationships.
