    Description: Quantitative information about the distribution of plant species can play an important role in flora and vegetation analyses, for instance in relating distribution figures with floristic and phytosociological data. Therefore, all species of the Dutch flora were classified according to their distribution patterns in six more or less floristic homogeneous regions in Europe. For each region, the coverage of the plant species is given. The distribution outside Europe (but inside the Holarctic) and outside the Holarctic is qualitative. The figures are based on the natural distribution patterns of the species, except for those species that have been naturalized a long time ago and of which the original distribution is unknown (\xe2\x80\x98archaeophytes\xe2\x80\x99). Apart from that, the position of the Netherlands with regard to the distribution area of the plant species is indicated.

    Description: Changes in the Dutch \xe2\x80\x98wild\xe2\x80\x99 flora have been studied by analysing data from the Standard List 1990. For each taxon data are available in this List about the frequency (UFK) in 1940 and 1990, ecological group and the category of the Red Data List. A trend is visible that common species are becoming more common and that rare species are becoming more rare. The floristic decline affects the chalk-rich and nutrient-poor habitats, the progress concerns the nutrient-rich habitats.

    Description: In the process of developing flora and vegetation statistics the CBS has collected a large number of data on autecological and other aspects of the vascular plants in the Netherlands. These data originate from various sources and have been brought together in one automated register, a botanical database containing information on the taxonomy, plant geography, morphology, autecology and vegetation of the species. Though primarily in aid of the statistical analysis of floristical and vegetative data, the register can also be used for external research and will be available, for a fee, on tape as well as in print. Continuous addition and improvement will enhance the usefulness of the information. The new subjects are added to the database in response to users\xe2\x80\x99 reactions and CBS experiences.

    Description: This List, the fifth of its kind\xc2\xb9\xc2\xb2\xc2\xb34, presents only the differences with the 1990 List. It is based on the 22nd ed. of Heukels\xe2\x80\x99 Flora van Nederland. 5 Criteria for inclusion of taxa in the List are the same as in the 1990 List. Added are 44 new taxa, 15 are removed, bringing the total number of taxa recognized to 1477.
