Notes:
Summary Investigations on inner ear function after laser Stapedotomy are still sparse and incomplete. Thus, in order to gain information on the electrical activity of the cochlea, the frequency-specific cochlear microphonics and compound action potentials were registered in cats during and up to 2 months after perforation of the base of the stapes with the argon or Nd-YAG laser. Compared to conventional Stapedotomy or stapedectomy, no impairments of audition by the laser can be detected in the animal experiment.
