Abstract:
The authors have tried to evaluated the effectiveness of oral chemotherapy in155cases of active pulmonary tuberculosis patients on ambulatory basis. Bactcriologically sputum conversion at the end of 6 months of therapy was 43.3%. Radiologically 68.4% showed improvement, Through these observations, during the first 6 months of chemotherapy, this form of treatment seems to be as good as other forms of combined therapy in which streptomycin is included, the authors feel that the oral chemotherapy may be particularly indicated in patients in whom the injection therapy is difficult or impossible because of various factors.
