Abstract: This research was carried out to determine the chemical composition, relative feed values (RFV), in vitro gas production (IVGP), metabolic energy (ME), and organic matter digestion (OMD). of the straw of Yekta, Linas, Dinçer, Göktürk, Zirkon, Olas, and Balcı safflower cultivars harvested as oilseed plants in Kahramanmaraş in August. (Research findings revealed that there are significant differences in chemical composition between safflower straw cultivars (P & lt;0.001). Crude protein (HP) of safflower straw varieties 6.49-10.51%, neutral detergent fiber (NDF) 40.28-46.50%, acid detergent fiber (ADF) 34.79-39.73%, raw ash (HK) 10.04%-10.65%, relative feed values (RFV) 116.79-142.67, metabolic energy 7.58-8.53 MJ kg-1 KM, organic matter digestion (OMD) 55.11-61.88%, methane production rate 10.68-11.94%. The Dinçer cultivar stood out with its HP ratio of 10.51%, NDF ratio of 40.28%, ADF ratio of 34.79%, and NYD of 142.67. Metabolic energy (ME) and organic matter digestion (OMD), respectively; Linas variety stood out with 8.53 MJ kg-1 KM and 61.88%. In terms of gas production, Göktürk stood out with 33.91 ml and Linas with 10.68% in terms of methane production. As a result, it can be said that cultivars can be a potential source of forage and in vivo studies are needed to see their effects on feed consumption amounts.

Abstract: In this study, the effects of UV-C light treatments at different times on fruit quality in 'Angeleno' plum were investigated under cold storage and shelf life conditions. Plum fruits harvested at the stage of hard ripening were brought to the laboratory of the Department of Horticulture, Faculty of Agriculture, Selcuk University, under appropriate conditions. Here, after a sample fruit was selected, it was kept in a specially designed cabinet for this purpose at 4 different times (5, 10, 20, and 30 minutes) to apply UV-C light. After the applications, the fruits were stored for 120 days in a cold store with 1°C and 90% relative humidity. Fruits are removed from the warehouse with 15-day intervals, half of the samples are immediately and the remaining half are kept in shelf life conditions at 20 °C and 65% relative humidity, after physical and biochemical (weight loss, fruit flesh firmness, fruit skin and flesh color, titratable acidity, sensory analysis, total phenolic content, total antioxidant activity, decay rate, polygalacturonase enzyme activity) changes determined. It has been determined that UV-C treatments in plums are effective in maintaining quality characteristics compared to control, both during cold storage and shelf life. As a result, it was determined that 10 min and 20 min UV-C applications in 'Angeleno' plum varieties gave promising results in extending the storage period by preserving the quality properties of the fruits under cold storage and shelf life conditions.

Abstract: In this study, sheep sorrel (Rumex acetosella) hay, which is considered as an alternative roughage to lamb rations at increasing levels, was substituted for alfalfa grass (Medicago Sativa) at 0, 10, 20, and 30% ratios. and gas production (GP), methane production (CH4), true digestion degree (TDD), true digestible dry matter (TDDM), partitioning factor (PF), microbial protein (MP), and microbial protein synthesis efficiency (MPSE) were investigated by an in vitro gas production method. In the study, the amount of gas production, True digestibility dry matter, PF, MP, EMP, TDD increased, and CH4 production decreased. True digestibility dry matter, PF, MP, MPSE, and TDD contents were found to be statistically significant according to gas production and CH4 productio (P & lt;0.05). Values in the study ranged from 253.22 to 315.86 mg, 2.84 to 3.33, 57.42% to 107.59%, 22.68% to 34.04%, and 53.13% to 66.49%, respectively for TDDM, PF, EMP, MP, and TDS values. Pearson correlation analysis of the diets found a negative correlation between GSKM and GU and % CH4 productions (P & lt;0.05). A positive correlation was found between true digestible dry matter, PF, MP and MPSE (P & lt;0.01).Based on the results of the current study, it appears to be very difficult to determine the appropriate dose for use in lamb rations. Therefore, in vivo trials are needed to determine the effects of sheep sorrel grass on lamb performance.

Abstract: In recent years, good agricultural practices aimed balanced fertilization/nutrition programs and was an alternative to conventional agriculture have become prominent in order to reduce environmental pollution caused by intensive and unconscious use of fertilizers, to prevent decreases in yield and quality, and to ensure production economically. For this purpose, leaf samples were taken from 80 different citrus (orange, lemon and mandarin) orchards in Karataş district of Adana, one of the important citrus production areas, where good agricultural practices (GAP) and conventional agricultural practices (CFP) were carried out, nutrient analysis was carried out and mineral nutrition status was determined comparatively. In general, it was seen that trees were largely insufficient in terms of K, but there was no significant nutritional problem in terms of N, P, Ca and Mg. In addition, it was determined that element concentrations in leaf samples were partially higher in the areas where GAP was applied. According to the critical concentration limit values, Fe and Cu concentrations in leaf samples taken from study areas were at a sufficient level and above 100% whereas Zn concentration was 85% in both applications and Mn concentrations were lower than critical concentration limit values by 20% in orchards with GAP and 25% in orchards with CFP. When average micronutrient results in leaf samples were evaluated, it was determined that Fe, Zn, Cu and Mn values were close to each other in both application orchards and there was no significant difference between applications. As a result, it was understood that fertilization habits of the farmers did not change in areas where GAP was applied, nutrient needs of plant should be determined based on soil and plant analyzes and applications should be made accordingly, and sustainability of practices that encourage this is important.

Abstract: In this study, the effect of the addition of barley flour on some quality characteristics of "Açık Ekmek", which is native to Sanliurfa region, was investigated. For this purpose, açık ekmek was produced by adding 0, 20, 40, 60, 80, 100 % barley flour to wheat flour. Some chemical (moisture, protein, ash) and functional (dietary fiber, total phenolic matter, phytic acid) properties of the produced breads were examined. As a result of the analyzes made; the effect of the addition of barley flour on all chemical and functional properties of breads was significant (p≤0.05). Depending on the addition of barley flour, the moisture, ash and protein contents of the breads were determined as 27.41-36.68%, 1.13%-2.39% and 9.41-11.97%, respectively. There were significant (p≤0.05) increases in the dietary fiber, total phenolic matter and phytic acid values of the breads due to the increase in the addition rate of barley flour. While dietary fiber values ranged from 5.50% to 15.50%, phytic acid values ranged from 0.24-3.95 mg g-1, and total phenolic matter values ranged from 0.64-1.33 mgGAE g-1. In the light of the findings obtained, it was concluded that barley flour can be used as a natural additive in bread making and for nutritional enrichment of other foods.

Abstract: Tükenen doğal kaynaklar sebebiyle biyoçeşitliliği korumak maksatlı tıbbi ve aromatik bitkilerin konvansiyonel ve organik tarım teknikleri ile yetiştirilmesi giderek yaygınlaşmaktadır.

Abstract: Potato (Solanum tuberosum L.) is one of the moderately sensitive field crops tos alt stress under in vitro and in vivo conditions. The salinity stress has significant and destructive effects on potato tuber production. Therefore, in vitro screening of potato genotypes for salt stress indicates a beneficial instrument as an alternative to field trials. The principal goal of this research was to reveal reaction in salinity stress tolerance of some potato cultivars using in vitro micropropagation technique. Single node explants of Van Gogh and Granola potato cultivars together with the 0.0, 250, 500, 750, 1000, 1500 and 2000 mg L-1 NaCl concentrations added MS media were used in the study. Explants were cultured under long-day photoperiod conditions (16 h light, 8 h dark) for 6 weeks. Observations such as days to the shoot initiation, explant regeneration rate, the length of shoots and radicles, the number of nodes and radicles, the length and width of leaves, stem tickness, fresh and dry weight of plantlets were recorded in the research. The highest explant regeneration rate was obtained from both 250 mg L-1 ve 750 mg L-1 NaCl including MS medium (90.63%). The results revealed that the longest plantlets was obtained on control media with no NaCl (28.71 cm), and Van Gogh gave longer plantlets (25.09 cm) compared to Granola (16.67 cm). The highest radicle number obtained on 250 mg L-1 NaCl including medium (73.38) and cultivar Van Gogh (76.18), however the longest radicles were determined on 2000 mg L-1 NaCl including medium (11.36 cm) and Van Gogh (9.45 cm). Findings presented here clearly indicated that although morphological characteristics of in vitro grown potato plantlets were affected by increasing NaCl concentrations, Van Gogh showed more tolerance to salinity environments.

Abstract: This study was conducted to determine the effects of T. absoluta on three different tomato varieties (Elibol, Super Lapçin, and No: 14397) planted with 40 cm spacing and 60 cm row spacing of 500 seedlings grown in the open field in a kale village of Mezitli district of Mersin province. It is aimed to determine the damage status by following the population in 2015; the most damage of T. absoluta on tomato leaves was seen in Elibol, the minor damage was seen in tomato variety No:14397, while the damage on the stem was more in No:14397 than Elibol and Super Lapçin, while the fruit damage was seen in the Elibol variety at the beginning. Although it was more than the varieties, it reached the same level on the following dates. In 2016, damage to leaves, stems, and fruit of T. absoluta was more in Elibol variety than Super Lapçin. The average number of adult T. absoluta caught in delta-type sexual attractive pheromone traps in 2015 was 16.02 for Elibol, 15.46 for Super Lapçin, and 14.94 for No:14397 in tomato cultivars per trap. No statistically significant difference was found in the whole leaf, stem, and fruit with a one-way analysis of variance between cultivars (P & gt;0.05). It has been determined that the use and development of traps for mass trapping according to the population status and the use of varieties with smaller leaf blades in tomato cultivation are also crucial in control against T. absoluta.
