Abstract: The paper analyzes the relationship between the economic interests and the scientific research using as intepretative key the genesis and the aims of the evaluation systems used in scholarly fields. It gives a particular attention to bibliometric indices - such as the hindex and the journal impact factor - now used to judge the scientific nature of a paper, but which in reality were developed by publishing companies for directing the purchases by university libraries. Afterward it shows how the commercial nature of the indices provokes distortions of the research, depriving it of its freedom and reducing its potential innovation. Finally the paper indicates the clever use of the semantic web (institutional repositories in open access) as a possible way out of this "impasse".

Abstract: Milan Polytechnic has set in motion a process to redefi ne its organisational structure, which will lead to the formulation of new departmental projects by the middle of 2012. In this context, the Diap is currently considering the construction of a new department in the fi eld of architecture. The department that we have in mind is of a ‘polytechnical', by subject and cross-disciplinary nature. It will focus on interpretation, design and the governance of forms of settlement and dwellings in contemporary urban and regional areas. It is an open and ambitious process in which the journal Territorio can play an essential role, through the cultural evaluation of design, reports on unique research and design experiences and the provision of an open space for discussion and dialogue, both within and outside the department.

In: PAGINE ELETTRONICHE DI QUADERNI ACP, Associazione Culturale Pediatri, Vol. 30, No. 2 ( 2023), p. 1-
Abstract: The recent release (March 2023) of the sixth report on climate change by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) presents a comprehensive assessment of the current state of knowledge on the observed impacts and projected risks of climate change. It confirms the strong interactions of natural, social and climate systems and the negative impacts on both nature and people caused by human-induced climate change. The most vulnerable people and systems are disproportionately affected, and climate extremes have led to irreversible impacts. Emphasis is placed on the importance of limiting global warming to 1.5° C if the goal of a just, equitable, and sustainable world is to be realized, and the urgency of taking more ambitious action by highlighting that if we act now, we can still ensure a sustainable and livable future for all. There are feasible and effective adaptation options that can reduce risks to nature and people, and greater ambition is needed in both adaptation and mitigation measures. Climate-resilient development in all human activities is therefore important, and this requires urgent and conscious attention from both policy makers and the general public. In this journal we continue to summarize briefly the main articles published in the monitored journals, including those related to climate change. All articles and editorials deemed worthy of attention are listed divided by topic, with a brief commentary. This issue is based on the systematic monitoring of publications in January and February 2023.
