Abstract
A short flagellum bearing unusual appendages inMallomonas guttata is described. These appendages, ca. 0.2 μm in diameter and 10–20 μm long, 7–10 in number, originate from the distal end of the short flagellum. Their membrane is continuous with the flagellar membrane and no particular structure was observed in appendage lumen.
