Abstract:
This data set provides mass flux as well as major element (Al, Fe, Ca, K, Na, Mg, Mn, P, Ti) and Y contents for <30µm carbonate-free mineral dust deposited at Mbour, Senegal, from 2013-03-06 to 2015-03-02 with a temporal resolution varying from 1 week to 1 day; this campain was initiated within the frame of the AMMA program (African Monsoon Multidisciplinary Analysis).
Dust was collected using a reversed pyramid-shaped passive PVC collector with an opening of 0.25m2 installed at about 10 m above ground on a dedicated tower made of scaffolding elements, set up on the premises of the Institut de la Recherche pour le Développement (IRD) ecological center in Mbour, Senegal (14°23'17N, 16°57'21W; elevation 3m asl).
Elemental measurements were carried out by ICP-OES, after dust sieving at 30 micrometers and carbonate removal using an acetic acid-sodium acetate buffer at pH ≈ 4.5 followed by an HF-HNO3 digestion.
See corresponding article from Le Quilleuc et al. for details.
