Zusammenfassung
Bei 13 Patienten mit typischem Bronchialasthma im Alter zwischen 20 und 58 Jahren, unter ihnen 5 Fälle mit Corticoid-Erhaltungsdosen, wurde die Exstirpation des Glomus caroticum nachNakayama vorgenommen. Der Eingriff erfolgte in allen Fällen zunächst einseitig, in einem Fall wurde nach 7 Monaten das gegenseitige Glomus entfernt. Die bis zu 30 Monaten durchgeführten postoperativen spirometrischen und klinischen Befundkontrollen ergaben in keinem Falle einen Einfluß dieser Operation auf den weiteren Verlauf des Leidens.
Summary
13 patients with typical bronchial asthma, aged between 20 and 58 years, among them 5 cases on corticosteroid maintenance doses, underwent one-sided resection of the carotid body according toNakayama. In 1 case an additional resection of the contralateral carotid body was done 7 months later. The patients' lung function and their clinical course were followed up to 30 months postoperatively. In no case there was any influence of the carotid body surgery on the subsequent course of the disease.
