Vulkanausbrüche die in der Klassifikation der Smithsonian Institution (USA) mit einem "volcanic explosivity index VEI" von mehr als "4" bewertet wurden, ab 1960 einschließlich "4". SVI, DVI und AI sind die betreffenden Jahreswerte der in Abbildung 7 dargestellten Vulkanaktivität-Chronologien (wobei bei AI die Deposition im Eis im allgemeinen mit einer Zeitverzögerung von 1-5 Jahren eintritt; darauf verweisen die Jahresangaben in der letzten Spalte). Die Vulkannummern beziehen sich auf Abbildung 7.
