P53 Family Members Modulate the Expression of PRODH, but Not PRODH2, via Intronic p53 Response Elements

p53 weakly induces PRODH2 expression in some cell lines.

A. The ability of DOXO to induce expression of the PRODH2 gene was analysed in four cell lines harbouring endogenous wild-type p53, namely HCT116 (p53+/+), MCF7, LoVo and HepG2. B. Levels of PRODH2 (darker bars) and P21 (lighter bars, positive control) transcripts in HepG2 cells treated with DOXO were determined by qPCR. The value obtained in the untreated cell line was normalized to 1 (broken line). All the experiments were performed in triplicate.
