Abstract
CONSIDERABLE attention has been devoted to the study of the structure of the reaction zone in gaseous detonation waves with the view of providing information on the duration and quantitative variations occurring in the gas parameters. In order to make these variations amenable to experimental study the waves are usually generated in mixtures at reduced initial pressures so as to prolong the duration of the reaction. If the overall reaction is second order the reaction time is then inversely proportional to the initial pressure.
