Summary

Escherichia coli IncW plasmid pSa was transferred by conjugation into three Gram-negative strains of methylotrophic bacteria and its physical autonomy, stable maintenance, replication and expression of the majority of its genes in these strains were established. A non-conjugative mini-derivative of pSa, plasmid pGV1106, was introduced into one of the methylotrophs by mobilization.
