Abstract

Distribution of the Ceylonese type black rats was studied in 90 specimens obtained in 10 localities of Sri Lanka. The black rats of this type are isolated in the central highland, while the Oceanian type black rats distribute in the surrounding coastal area. Hybrid rats between these two types occur in the central lowland and coastal area.
