Description:
Cold and solar urticaria are subtypes of inducible urticaria. Both are much rarer than chronic spontaneous urticaria. Few patients suffer from several types of inducible urticaria 1 . Solar urticaria is a photodermatosis, restricted to UV-light exposed areas. Solar and cold urticaria manifests as pruritus with wheals with or without angioedema within minutes after topical radiation (ultraviolet or visible light) or cold exposure. The skin changes last a few minutes to several hours and spontaneously resolve completely 2 .Cold urticaria is responsible for about 3% of chonic urticaria cases. It may lead to emergency situations when breathing cold air induces angioedema of the upper airways 3 . This article is protected by copyright. All rights reserved.
