Abstract:
Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) or sustainability is not only a matter of concern to governments or private sector companies, but has also become a focus of universities for a long time. In this study, a comparative analysis of the ranking and reporting systems which is used on a global scale in order to express universities’ community contribution position in terms of ‘Social Impact’ and the importance their communication practices with both internal and external stakeholders. Within the scope of the analysis, the main headings that make up the Social Impact, which is a pillar of the Corporate Social Responsibility effort of higher education institutions, can be classified as follows: ‘Rights Provided to Employees and Development of Employees’, ‘Human Rights and Equal Rights’, ‘Contribution to Economic and Social Development’ and ‘Environmental Practices’. While presenting the current status of the social impact of universities, the shortcomings in their current scope have also been taken into account as well as the importance of the relevant strategies and communication studies.
