Abstract:
Notes:
Summary 176 tibial fractures, which in the years 1962 till 1965 have been treated conservatively in the Surgical Clinic of the District Hospital Dresden-Friedrichstadt, are analysed as to form of the fracture, duration of the stay in the hospital, duration of the plaster fixation, and incapacity for work. 123 patients could be subsequently examined clinically and roentgenologically. 51,3% of the patients showed a good, 34,1% a satisfactory and 14,6% a bad afterexamination-result. A critical analysis must state that an improvement of the results of the treatment may only be attained by surgical measures, whereby especially for the open fractures the primary nailing of Küntscher is recommended.
