Kurzfassung:
The temperature dependence of the dc Josephson critical supercurrent has been measured for square lead-zinc-lead (superconductor-normal metal-superconductor) junctions in order to make a quantitative study of self-field effects. Correction for the critical current density, Jc, due to the self-field effect is made by using the linearized two-dimensional model proposed by Vaglio. We calculate the temperature dependence of the Josephson penetration depth, λJ and find Jc to be proportional to (1−T/Tc)2 in the range where λJ is comparable to the junction width, W.
