Background: Plasminogen activator inhibitor −2 (PAI-2) is an important molecular that plays a crucial role in vascular homeostasis and constitutes a critical response mechanism to cardiovascular injury, such as atherosclerosis, coronary artery disease (CAD). Methods: The aim of the current study was to explore the association between the variants in PAI-2 gene and CAD and its prognoses. The three variants (rs8093048, rs9946657, rs9320032) of the PAI-2 gene were detected in 407 patients with CAD and 518 control subjects. All patients with CAD underwent one-year follow-up for major adverse cardiac events (MACE).
