Notes:
Wittig Synthesis and X-Ray Structure of a 26-Membered Macrocycle Containing two Bipyridine UnitsWittig-type macrocyclization of bipyridinedicarbaldehyde 5 with bis(phosphonium bromide) 6 leads to the new bipyridinophanes 7 8. The X-ray structural analysis of 8 reveals a step-type conformation, which according to 1H-NMR results is also present in solution.
