Description / Table of Contents:
Notes:
Summary Of 14 recipients of homologous kidneys from donors who had just died, and transplanted 1–3 years previously, only one died since discharge from hospital (after secretely discontinuing all medication). All the others were able to return to work while continuing with a basic immunosuppressive therapy. Four amongst them require anti-hypertensive treatment. Resistance to infection and healing of wounds does not appear to be altered. Amongst the most frequently encountered complications were pulmonary embolism (4 patients) and hypercholesterolaemia (5 patients). Amongst those who had survived the longest a certain decrease in the function of the transplant could be observed.
