Description / Table of Contents:
Notes:
Summary 24 homologous and autologous eyes from rabbits were implanted intraperitoneally under aseptic conditions. The remaining in situ-eyes showed normal clinical and morphological findings; no uveal reactions resembling an experimental sympathetic ophthalmia occurred. The observations of other investigators could not be confirmed. Therefore the authors suggest the necessity of a microbiotic infection to produce an experimental sympathetic ophthalmia; the infection could play the role of an adjuvant or of a partial antigen in an infectallergic process.
