Description / Table of Contents: Zusammenfassung Rattenkollektive wurden standardisierten ausgedehnten Verbrühungen ausgesetzt. 2. Verabfolgung von Heparin zur Hemmung einer Verbrauchscoagulopathie. 3. Infusionen von Pufferlösungen, Insulinverabfolgung.
Notes: Summary Groups of rats were subjected to standardized extensive scalding. The animals were killed at defined times after the thermal damage (15 and 30 min., 1, 3, 6, 12, and 24 h). Clotting studies were carried out, comprising single coagulation factors and coagulation complexes, as well as the entire coagulation potential. These studies showed during the first minutes for up to 1 h after affliction of the thermal damage an increase of fibrinogen, prothrombin (one-phase method) and the Quick value (determined with monkey brain thrombokinase), in addition an increase of theα1,α2 andβ-globulin fraction with decreasing viscosity of the serum. The rise in fibrinogen and theα1,α2 andβ-globulin fraction is not associated with a viscosity increase which indicates that other protein colloids decrease (albumin fraction). The clotting activity of the entire coagulation potential is changed in the sense of hypercoagulability, in which the activity of the antithrombin complex, prothrombin and fibrinogen plays an essential role (despite intermediate decreases). Some labile factors, especially factor V and VII, are reduced, probably as the result of a proteolytic process and consumption coagulopathy. This is also indicated by the plasma thrombin time (antithrombin complex). The activity of proteolytic enzymes is especially reflected in a decrease of insulin (proteo-hormone), which manifests itself in a considerable rise of the blood sugar level. The pH value moves toward the acid range. These pH shifts are due to the increased occurrence of cell breakdown products (e.g. amino acids). The acid pH probably also causes an activittion of precursors of proteolytic enzymes. Specific therapeutic measures can be derived from the results of these studies: 1. Administration of drugs which prevent liberation of kinins by the proteolytic insult at the site of the thermal damage and intravascularly, or which inhibit the activity of already present kinins. 2. Administration of heparin for inhibition of an existing consumption coagulopathy. 3. Infusions of buffer solution, administration of insulin.

Description / Table of Contents: Abstract For the entire area of the Alps and especially for the geotraverse some temperature data are already available. For the Mohorovicic-Discontinuity temperatures of 600° to 1400° C are quoted. On the basis of the results of 33 heat flow measurements four areas can be delimited: Lower Alps (1.86 HFU), Northern Alps (2.04 HFU), Tauern-window (1.64 HFU), and the Southern Alps (1.77 HFU). The study of this distribution under stationary conditions as a function of the heat production in the subsurface yields a distinct upwarping of the transition zone between acid and basic material in the Tauern.

Description: During cruises in the Norwegian Sea in 1969 and 1972 seven heat flow values were measured between Iceland and the Vøring Plateau. The six eastern values of this profile show a positive trend eastsoutheastwards which coincides with a possible transition from oceanic to continental ernst suggested by seismic results. One heat flow value taken near Iceland and 250 miles west of the others reflects the influence of the Mid-Atlantic Ridge. An estimation of the heat flow at a depth of 15 km below the measuring localities yields values with a small, possibly insignificant negative trend towards the east-southeast. The temperatures at 15 km depth are estimated to be 190°C beneath the zone of seamounts and 280 °C beneath the Vøring Plateau.

Description: KTB Borehole Measurements Data Magnetic Susceptibility and Magnetic Field Extensive borehole measurements were performed during the active drilling phase of the KTB pilot and main hole. The data report STR 21/03 KTB Borehole logging data contains the full description of the logging data given here. Please read it thoroughly to avoid inappropriate or wrong use of the data. The KTB borehole measurement data files contain the final processed versions of logging data from the two KTB boreholes: • KTB-Oberpfalz VB (KTB Vorbohrung/Pilot Hole or KTB-VB) • KTB-Oberpfalz HB (KTB Hauptbohrung/Main Hole or KTB-HB). Here only the acronyms KTB-VB and KTB-HB are used. In total there are 145 data files from the KTB-VB and 239 data files from the KTB-HB. All logs were run in open hole unless noted otherwise (see the file header). The maximum logging depth was 4001 m in the KTB-VB and 9085 m in the KTB-HB. The Magnetic Susceptibility (MSUS) and Magnetic Field data files comprise data from a magnetic susceptibility sonde from the university of Munich, and two magnetometer sondes from the university of Braunschweig (FML-BS) and of Schlumberger (GPIT). MSUS was only run in the KTB-VB. The Braunschweig magnetometer was run in both KTB boreholes and the GPIT only in the KTB-HB. The MSUS log and the magnetic field log in the KTB-VB are not depth corrected to the reference GR because the sondes had no GR sensor. Both types of magnetic field logs in the KTB-HB are depth corrected to the reference GR. The data are provided in ASCII format. Detailed descriptions are provided in the associated data report (STR 21/03, Kueck et al., 2021) and the KTB Borehole Measurements Catalog. Acknkowledgements: The GFZ German Research Centre for Geosciences, Potsdam, Germany, as successor of the KTB Project Management provides the logging data, which were obtained under grants RG8604, RG8803 and RG 9001 of the Federal Ministry of Research and Technology of Germany.

The Borehole Geometry and orientation Logs files contain data from measurements made with oriented 4-arm caliper sondes. Besides all single BG logs from each borehole also compilations of those BG logs representing the borehole geometry state during the major logging sessions and the derived borehole trajectory and true vertical depth are included here. The many single logs allow to analyze the development of the borehole shape over time. The date when logged is denoted in the file header. Please note that the single Borehole Geometry Logs are not depth corrected to the reference GR but are given here as logged. The BGL compilations and derived data are depth corrected to the reference GR. The data are provided in ASCII format. Detailed descriptions are provided in the associated data report (STR 21/03, Kueck et al., 2021) and the KTB Borehole Measurements Catalog.
