MO-π-Bond Order-Bond Lengths Relations for Hetero-π-Systems, III. π-Systems with CN-and CO-BondsBond lengths is hetero-π-systems containing CN-bonds as well as CO-bonds can be satisfactorily predicted by HMO calculations with the new heteroatom parameters determined empirically or by PPP-SCF-π-calculations by means of bond order-bond lengths relations obtained earlier. But the prediction is with greater accuracy possible for CO-and CC-bonds than for CN-bonds. The relation between HMO-π-bond orders and bond lengths for CN-bonds reported in a previous paper 2) has to be changed in the limit given by its standard deviation to \documentclass{article}\pagestyle{empty}\begin{document}$$ R\mathop {{\rm CN,HMO}}\limits_{{\rm rs}} \;[{\rm \AA}]\; = \;1.460 - 0.209\;p{\rm rs} $$\end{document} with a standard deviation of 0,021 Å for 308 points and a correlation coefficient of 0,790. The corresponding relation for PPP-SCF-π-bond orders is \documentclass{article}\pagestyle{empty}\begin{document}$$ R\mathop {{\rm CN,PPP}}\limits_{{\rm rs}} \;[{\rm \AA}]\; = \;1.428 - 0.145\;p{\rm rs} $$\end{document} with a standard deviation of 0,023 Å for 297 points and correlation coefficient of 0,764. - For CO-bonds only the PPP-SCF-π-bond order-lengths relation has to be changed slightly to \documentclass{article}\pagestyle{empty}\begin{document}$$ R\mathop {{\rm CO,PPP}}\limits_{{\rm rs}} \;[{\rm]AA}]\; = \;1.417 - 0.223\;p{\rm rs} $$\end{document} with a standard deviation of 0,022 Å for 92 points and a correlation coefficient of 0,867.
Notes:
