Summary A homologous series of alkylpolyglycloethers, C n H2n + 1-(O-CH2-CH2) m -OH with a constant number of in the average m = 9 ethylenoxydgroups and different alkylgroups, where n = 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 8, 10, 12 and 14, was investigated on the localanesthetic activity on the cornea of rabbits and the endoanesthetic effects on the stretch receptors in guinea-pigs in comparison with Procaine, Tetracaine and Benzononatine. With an increase of the length of the alkylgroups and the lipophilic quality and the partition coefficient (tricaproin/water) the local and endoanesthetic effects increased parallely.

Zusammenfassung Eine homologe Reihe von Alkylpolyglykoläthern, C n H2n + 1-(O-CH2-CH2) m -OH, mit einer konstanten Anzahl von im Mittel m = 9 Äthylenoxydgruppen und variierten C n -Zahlen von n = 1, 2, 3, 4,6, 8, 10, 12 und 14 wurde auf ihre oberflächenanaesthetische Wirkung an der Hornhaut des Kaninchens und intravenös auf ihre endoanaesthetische Wirkung an den Dehnungsreceptoren der Lungen von Meerschweinchen untersucht. Als Vergleichsstoffe dienten Procain, Tetracain und Benzononatin. Beide Wirkungen steigerten sich mit der Zunahme der Länge der Alkylkette, der Lipophilie und des Verteilungskoeffizienten (Tricaproin/Wasser).
