Notes:
Summary The effect of human treading on the composition of the enchytraeid fauna was studied on hiking trails in hornbeam-oak forests in Hungary. Compaction of the soil due to continuous treading has an unfavourable influence on the enchytraeid fauna, with density and species richness decreasing significantly. However, an interesting result is that one species, Fridericia conculcata, prefers these heavily trodden areas.
