Abstract:
Psidium L. (Myrtaceae Juss.) possui cerca de 92 espécies distribuídas predominantemente na região Neotropical, com algumas espécies amplamente cultivadas pelo globo. Entre os gêneros nativos de Myrteae, Psidium apresenta o mais elevado número de registros poliploides, que seguem uma multiplicação do número básico da família (x=11), variando de 2n=22 a 132. Espécies poliploides funcionam como modelos para estudos evolutivos, pois fornecem evidências sobre o um rearranjo numérico promotor de especiação e diversificação em mais de 80% das plantas. Acredita-se que a poliploidia, desempenha importante papel na evolução desse gênero, assim as contagens cromossômicas representam a base para entender alguns dos processos evolutivos em Psidium. Este trabalho objetivou investigar o estado de caráter cromossômico (diploide ou poliploide) ancestral no gênero. Para isso, construímos uma árvore filogenética com sequências de marcadores nucleares (ITS, ETS) e plastidiais (psbA-trnH e ndhF) para 14 espécies e cinco táxons próximos que também dispunham de dados cromossômicos. As sequências de DNA fazem parte da filogenia de Psidium (in prep.). Compilamos os dados disponíveis até o momento de contagens cromossômicas, já publicados e outros de estudos em andamento. Foi realizada análise de inferência Bayesiana usando uma matriz combinada com os quatro marcadores e uma reconstrução de estado de caráter usando a árvore obtida no programa Mesquite v.3.0. O mapeamento de estado de caráter ancestral mostrou que a maioria (64%) das espécies do gênero divergiu por eventos de poliploidia. De acordo com o atual conhecimento, o estado diploide é conhecido em uma baixa porcentagem de espécies do gênero Psidium, em aproximadamente ca. 7% (sete espécies: P. araucanum Soares-Silva & Proença, P. australe var australe, P. chinense Loudon, P. friedrichstalianum (O. Berg) Nied, P. guajava L., P. guinense Sw., P. sartorianum (O. Berg) Nied.), e em algumas espécies são conhecidas apenas registros poliploides, como é o caso de P. cattleianum Sabine, com 2n 〉 33. Novas análises para entender o tipo de origem da poliploidia estão sendo conduzidas atualmente e auxiliarão para entender o mecanismo de origem e diversificação (se aloploliploidia, autopoliploidia ou hibridização) do gênero Psidium.
