    Abstract: This study presents a stereophotogrammetry approach to achieve full-field displacement measurements of helicopter rotor blades. The method is demonstrated in the wind tunnel test of a 2 m diameter rotor, conducted at the 5.5   m × 4   m Aeroacoustic Wind Tunnel of China Aerodynamics Research and Development Center (CARDC). By arranging the retroreflective targets on the special hat installed directly above the rotor hub, the dynamic motion of the rotor shaft was tracked accurately, and a unified coordinate system was established on the rotor. Therefore, three-dimensional coordinates of instantaneously measured targets attached on the blade could be transformed to the unified rotor coordinate system, thereby providing a basis for consistently calculating the blade displacements at different test conditions. Moreover, location deviations of the blade caused by the vibration of the measuring system or the rotor due to freestream and rotor rotation were also effectively corrected through coordinate transformation. Comparisons of experimental and simulation results for a range of hover and forward flight conditions show good magnitude and trend agreements.

    Abstract: Deep learning models for human activity recognition (HAR) based on sensor data have been heavily studied recently. However, the generalization ability of deep models on complex real-world HAR data is limited by the availability of high-quality labeled activity data, which are hard to obtain. In this article, we design a similarity embedding neural network that maps input sensor signals onto real vectors through carefully designed convolutional and Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM) layers. The embedding network is trained with a pairwise similarity loss, encouraging the clustering of samples from the same class in the embedded real space, and can be effectively trained on a small dataset and even on a noisy dataset with mislabeled samples. Based on the learned embeddings, we further propose both nonparametric and parametric approaches for activity recognition. Extensive evaluation based on two public datasets has shown that the proposed similarity embedding network significantly outperforms state-of-the-art deep models on HAR classification tasks, is robust to mislabeled samples in the training set, and can also be used to effectively denoise a noisy dataset.

    Abstract: A stereo PIV technique is utilized for the analysis of the flow field over a 70° delta wing. Instantaneous velocity vectors are measured at a series of stations in the chordwise direction. The angle of attack from 0° to 45° are investigated with the free stream velocities of 20, 30, 40, 50 and 60 m/s, respectively. The velocity measurements conducted in a small-sized subsonic wind tunnel (1.8m×1.4m) at China Areodynamics Research and Development Center (CARDC) are compared with the previously obtained PSP results. The comparison shows a good agreement with each other, providing the validity of the PIV technique as well as indicating its effectiveness to investigate complex flow fields in a fairly large-scale wind tunnel facility.

    Abstract: Dual-comb spectroscopy (DCS) has revolutionized numerous spectroscopic applications due to its high spectral resolution and fast measurement speed. Substantial efforts have been made to obtain a coherent dual-comb source at various spectral regions through nonlinear frequency conversion, where the preservation of coherence has become a problem of great importance. In this study, we report the generation of coherent dual-comb sources covering from the ultraviolet to mid-infrared region based on high-order harmonic generation. Driven by high-repetition-rate femtosecond mid-infrared dual-comb pump pulses, up to ninth-order harmonic was generated from the ultraviolet to mid-infrared region using an aperiodically poled lithium niobate waveguide. To investigate the coherence property of the high-order harmonic generation, DCS was performed at every generated spectral region from 450 to 3600 nm. The measured dual-comb spectra with distinctive tooth-resolved structures show the well-preserved coherence without apparent degradation after the cascaded quadratic nonlinear processes. The subsequent methane absorption spectroscopy at multiple spectral regions of different harmonics was carried out to characterize the spectroscopic capability of the system. These results demonstrate the potential of our scheme to generate compact and coherent broadband optical frequency combs for simultaneous multi-target detections.

    Abstract: The determination of airflow parameters is essential to the research of critical information on environment monitoring, chemical kinetics, and aerodynamic and propulsion applications. During the past few decades, tunable diode laser absorption spectroscopy has become a common and efficient tool for the flow velocity measurement based on the Doppler shift of the absorption line. Dual-comb absorption spectroscopy (DCAS), as a state-of-the-art Fourier-transform broadband spectroscopic technique, not only can detect multiple trace molecules in parallel but also can extract Doppler shifts to derive the flow velocity through the analysis of dozens of molecular absorption lines simultaneously with high precision. Here, we report a proof-of-principle demonstration of the velocity measurements of acetylene at various flow velocities by means of a high-resolution and broadband DCAS. Mode-resolved Doppler-shifted rotational-vibrational lines in the P branch of acetylene molecules are obtained. A model for multiline Doppler frequency determination is investigated and experimentally verified. The flow velocity measurements with a measuring uncertainty down to the submeter per second over the range from 8.7 m/s to 44.8 m/s at an effective time resolution of 1 s and a measuring uncertainty of 1.97 m/s at 0.1 s are demonstrated. With broadband mid-infrared frequency combs covering atmospheric transmission windows, the open-path measurement for monitoring diffusion of the weak pollutant source would be realized.

    Abstract: The steel structures of coastal engineering in the moist tropics and subtropics are always under a C5/CX level corrosion environment with high temperature, high humidity, and high salt fog. Anticorrosive waterborne coatings with high weatherability and reliability are urgently to be developed. In this work, one kind of waterborne heavy-duty anticorrosive coatings, with the advantages of excellent corrosion resistance, self-repairing ability, self-cleaning ability, and high film compactness, was successfully achieved through modifying the side chains on the surface morphologies of the spherical nanoscale titania. The micromorphology and structure of the coating were characterized by a scanning electron microscope (SEM), transmission electron microscope (TEM), and atomic force microscope (AFM). The anticorrosion characteristics and forming mechanism of the modified nanoscale titania coating were analyzed. The salt spray tests showed that the neutral salt spray resistance time of the modified nanoscale titania coating was 1440 h. Its durability reached the H level and met the design requirements for 15 years of anticorrosion lifetime. The modified nanoscale titania coatings had been large-scale commercially applied at some typical steel structures under an extreme harsh corrosion environment in one coastal thermal power plant. The results showed that no rusting, peeling, or crack phenomena were observed after 3 years of service under different harsh coastal corrosion conditions.

    Abstract: A single epithelial cell adhesion molecule (EpCAM) for circulating tumor cell (CTCs) isolation has been proved to be low in efficiency as it fails to recognize EpCAM-negative CTCs. Meanwhile, the current immunocytochemical (ICC) identification strategy for the captured cells is tedious and time-consuming. To address these issues, we designed a dual-labeled fluorescent immunomagnetic nanoprobe (BP–Fe 3 O 4 –AuNR/Apt), by loading magnetic Fe 3 O 4 nanoparticles and gold nanorods (AuNRs) onto black phosphorus (BP) nanosheets and then linking them with Cy3-labeled EpCAM and Texas red-labeled tyrosine protein kinase 7 (PTK7) aptamers, which created a high-performance bio-interface for efficient, heterogeneous CTC capture and rapid self-identification with high accuracy. As few as 5 CTCs could be captured from 1.0 mL PBS, mixed cell solution and lysed blood. What's more, the presence of BP and AuNRs on this capturing interface also allowed us to preliminarily investigate the potential photothermal therapeutic effect of the probe toward CTC elimination. The applicability of the probe was further demonstrated in gastric cancer patients. By detecting the number of CTCs in the blood of gastric cancer patients, the correlations between the CTC number and the disease stage, as well as distant metastasis were systematically explored.
