Abstract:
Ce travail est une synthèse des résultats de plusieurs études menées dans le monde sur l'huile essentielle de Mentha spicata . Ainsi, les analyses chimiques par la technique CPG-SM ont permis d'identifier plusieurs composés dont nous citons les principaux : la carvone, le limonène, le germacrène D, le β-caryophyllène, la menthone et le 1,8-cinéole. Par ailleurs, l'évaluation de l'activité antioxydante de l'huile essentielle par le test DPPH a révélé une différence dans les résultats probablement due à la diversité de la composition chimique, à divers facteurs dont la région. Enfin, les résultats du test ABTS ont révélé que l'huile essentielle de Mentha spicata possédait une activité antioxydante considérable. Ceci pourrait être attribué à la présence d'une grande quantité de carvone. Par ailleurs, l'évaluation de l'activité antimicrobienne de l'huile essentielle par la technique d'aromatogramme et la détermination de CMI a montré qu'elle possédait un grand pouvoir inhibiteur sur les bactéries à Gram positif comme Staphylococcus aureus, Streptococcus pyogenes, Bacillus subtilis, Bacillus cereus et Streptococcus mutans et à Gram négatif comme Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Pasturella multocida , Escherichia coli et Salmonella. Ainsi que sur les champignons comme Mucor mucedo, Rhizopus solani, Aspergillus niger, Aspergillus flavus et alternaria alternata . De plus, les résultats de l'activité cytotoxique, en utilisant le test MTT, ont montré que l'huile essentielle de Mentha spicata avait une puissante action cytotoxique sur les cellules KB et HeLa.
