Abstract: COVID‐19 has become a global pandemic, and close contacts and asymptomatic patients are worthy of attention. Methods A total of 1844 people in close contacts with 76 COVID‐19 patients were investigated, and nasopharyngeal swabs and venous blood were collected for centralized medical quarantine observation. Real‐time fluorescence was used to detect SARS‐CoV‐2 nucleic acid in nasopharyngeal swabs of all close contacts, and the colloidal gold method was used to detect serum‐specific antibodies. Levels of IgM‐ and IgG‐specific antibodies were detected quantitatively through chemiluminescence from the first nucleic acid turned negative date (0 week) and on weekly intervals of ≤1 week, 1–2 weeks, 2–3 weeks, 3–4 weeks, 4–5 weeks, 5–6 weeks, and 6–7 weeks. Results The total positive rate of the colloidal gold method (88.5%, 23/26) was significantly higher (χ 2  = 59.182, p   〈  0.001) than that of the healthy control group (2.0%, 1/50). There was significant difference in IgG concentration at different time points (0–7 weeks) after negative nucleic acid conversion (χ 2  = 14.034, p  = 0.029). Serum IgG levels were significantly higher at weekly time points of 4–5 weeks (Z = −2.399, p  = 0.016), 5–6 weeks (Z = −2.049, p  = 0.040), and 6–7 weeks (Z = −2.197, p  = 0.028) compared with 1–2 weeks after negative nucleic acid conversion. However, there was no significant difference (χ 2  = 4.936, p  = 0.552) in IgM concentration between time points tested (0–7 weeks) after negative nucleic acid conversion. The positive rates of IgM and IgG in asymptomatic patients (χ 2  = 84.660, p   〈  0.001) were significantly higher than those in the healthy control group (χ 2  = 9.201, p  = 0.002) within 7 weeks of negative nucleic acid conversion. Conclusions The IgG concentration in asymptomatic cases remained at a high level after nucleic acid turned negative. Nucleic acid detection combined with IgM and IgG antibody detection is an effective way to screen asymptomatic infections.

Abstract: In this review, we summarized the state-of-the-art progress on the ethanol performance of NiO by means of morphology, doping, loading noble metal particles, and forming heterojunctions. We first introduced the effect of modulating NiO morphology on ethanol performance that has been reported in recent years. The morphology with large specific surface area and high porosity was considered to be the one that can bring high gas response. Then, we discussed the enhanced effect of the doping of metal cations and noble metal particle loading on the ethanol-sensitive properties of NiO. Doping ions increased the ground-state resistance and increased the oxygen defect concentration of NiO. The effects of noble metal particles on the performance of NiO included chemical sensitization and electronic sensitization. Finally, the related contents of NiO forming complexes with metal oxides and bimetallic oxides were discussed. In this section, the specific improvement mechanism was discussed first, and then, the related work of researchers in recent years was summarized. At the same time, we presented a reasonable outlook for NiO-based ethanol sensors, imagining future directions.

Abstract: Five eremophilane sesquiterpenes including three new ones, named paraconions A–C ( 1 – 3 ), were isolated from an endophytic fungus, Paraconiothyrium sp. from Artemisia selengensis . The structures of these new compounds were established based on spectroscopic methods, including nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR), ultraviolet (UV), and infrared (IR) spectroscopy, as well as high resolution electrospray ionization mass spectrometry (HR‐ESI‐MS). An anti‐inflammatory assay indicated that paraconion B ( 2 ) inhibited lipopolysaccharide‐induced nitric oxide (NO) production in RAW 264.7 cells, with an IC 50 value of 51.7 μM. The compounds discovered in this study will enrich the structural types of secondary metabolites of the endophytic fungus Paraconiothyrium sp.

Abstract: Since MXene (a two-dimensional material) was discovered in 2011, it has been favored in all aspects due to its rich surface functional groups, large specific surface area, high conductivity, large porosity, rich organic bonds, and high hydrophilicity. In this paper, the preparation of MXene is introduced first. HF etching was the first etching method for MXene; however, HF is corrosive, resulting in the development of the in situ HF method (fluoride + HCl). Due to the harmful effects of fluorine terminal on the performance of MXene, a fluorine-free preparation method was developed. The increase in interlayer spacing brought about by adding an intercalator can affect MXene’s performance. The usual preparation methods render MXene inevitably agglomerate and the resulting yields are insufficient. Many new preparation methods were researched in order to solve the problems of agglomeration and yield. Secondly, the application of MXene-based materials in gas sensors was discussed. MXene is often regarded as a flexible gas sensor, and the detection of ppb-level acetone at room temperature was observed for the first time. After the formation of composite materials, the increasing interlayer spacing and the specific surface area increased the number of active sites of gas adsorption and the gas sensitivity performance improved. Moreover, this paper discusses the gas-sensing mechanism of MXene. The gas-sensing mechanism of metallic MXene is affected by the expansion of the lamellae and will be doped with H2O and oxygen during the etching process in order to become a p-type semiconductor. A p-n heterojunction and a Schottky barrier forms due to combinations with other semiconductors; thus, the gas sensitivities of composite materials are regulated and controlled by them. Although there are only several reports on the application of MXene materials to gas sensors, MXene and its composite materials are expected to become materials that can effectively detect gases at room temperature, especially for the detection of NH3 and VOC gas. Finally, the challenges and opportunities of MXene as a gas sensor are discussed.

Abstract: Currently, the second-generation intact parathyroid hormone (iPTH) assay is commonly used for measuring PTH levels. The iPTH assay detects both full-length (1–84)PTH and (7–84)PTH fragments, which have antagonistic effects on (1–84)PTH in bones and kidneys. The third-generation PTH assay is specific for (1–84)PTH. This study examined the features of different PTH fragments in stage 5 chronic kidney disease (CKD) and the effects of parathyroidectomy (PTX) on the above markers in severe secondary hyperparathyroidism (SHPT) patients. The cross-sectional study included 262 stage 5 CKD patients and 90 controls. A prospective follow-up study was then conducted in 34 PTX patients. Second- and third-generation assays were used to measure plasma iPTH and (1–84)PTH levels, respectively. Circulating (7–84)PTH levels were calculated by subtracting the (1–84)PTH value from the iPTH value. Different plasma PTH fragments were higher, and (1–84)PTH/iPTH was lower in CKD patients than in controls. Plasma (1–84)PTH and (7–84)PTH concentrations increased as iPTH levels increased, and (7–84)PTH increased more evidently. Plasma iPTH, (1–84)PTH and (7–84)PTH levels were 1530.5 (885.0–2111.5) pg/ml, 683.1 (431.4–1018.0) pg/ml, and 739.3 (452.6–1261.0) pg/ml, respectively, in PTX patients. Plasma iPTH, (1–84)PTH and (7–84)PTH concentrations decreased considerably, and the (1–84)PTH/iPTH ratio increased after PTX (median follow-up interval: 10.9 months). Stage 5 CKD patients had higher plasma levels of different PTH fragments, and lower (1–84)PTH/iPTH ratio. PTX could significantly reverse these abnormalities in severe SHPT patients. The iPTH assay overestimated the function of the parathyroid glands; thus, the third-generation PTH assay is likely better for the management of CKD patients.

Abstract: Neck skin aging is of particular interest to skin scientists and dermatologists because of the increasing demand for neck wrinkle improvement. This study aimed to determine the neck aging features of Chinese women and to investigate the clinical alterations and mechanical, topographical, and biophysical properties of neck skin. Methods A total of 450 Chinese women (age range: 16‐66 years) were clinically examined and graded by the same dermatologist using standardized photographs. The skin properties were assessed by noninvasive skin measuring devices. Results The results showed that different neck aging signs, including the horizontal neck fold, neck sagging, hollowing of emaciated neck, platysmal bands, and neck texture, appeared in different ages, and all of them worsened age‐dependently since they manifested. The skin elasticity markedly changed before the onset of most of the aging signs and showed a negative correlation with both age and the severity of these signs. Transepidermal water loss (TEWL) was positively correlated with age, whereas hydration and pH were not significantly correlated with age. We also found that wrinkles (SEw) and average roughness (Ra) were significantly correlated with age. SEw, smoothness, the average depth of roughness (Rz), TEWL, and erythema index were significantly and positively correlated with the severity of the horizontal neck fold, neck sagging, hollowing of emaciated neck, and platysmal bands. Conclusion This is the first study to emphasize that age causes diverse changes in Chinese women's neck skin. The changes in skin elasticity may effectively predict neck aging before the onset of most of the neck aging signs.
