This study examined how forest and anthropogenic lands change downstream nutrient concentrations depending on the hydrological conditions Both conifer plantations and broad‐leaved forests buffered increases in river nutrient concentrations during storms A small area of anthropogenic land covers made a large contribution to the increased nutrient concentrations as precipitation increased
