Abstract:
This research was carried out to determine the grain yield and quality characteristics of some barley cultivars in 2016-17 and 2017-18 plant growing seasons in Diyarbakır. In this research a total of 12 barley cultivars were used. Eight of the cultivars (Bilgi-91, Çıldır-02, Erginel-90, İnce-04, Kalaycı-97, Keser, Özdemir-05, Ünver) were belonging to Transitional Zone Agricultural Research Institute. Four of the cultivars (Altıkat, Barış, Kendal, Şahin-91) belonging to GAP International Agricultural Research and Training Center. This experiment was designed in randomized complete blocks with three replications. In the study lodging rate, plant height, number of days to heading, thousand grain weight, hectoliter weight, protein content, starch content, grain moisture content and grain yield of barley cultivars were examined. According to the average of the years, lodging 0.0-71.25%, plant height 86.3-106.3 cm, number of days to heading 111.3-119.0 day, thousand grain weight 31.7-41.2 g, hectoliter weight 62.5-69.6 kg hl-1, protein content 13.8-16.3%, starch content 57.5-60.2%, grain moisture content 7.7-8.1% and grain yield of cultivars 435.0-681.7 kg da-1. It has been determined that Barış and Kendal cultivars have the highest value in terms of grain yield. As a result, it was determined that Barış variety with high grain yield and Kendal, Altıkat, İnce-04 and Bilgi-91 cultivars would be suitable for Diyarbakır conditions.
