Abstract: Acute viral myocarditis (AVMC) is the aetiology of heart failure (HF) with few specific treatments. The improvement of left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF) is a critical predictor for the prognosis of AVMC. LCZ696 is a drug used in HF to improve LVEF, with a few research on AVMC. In this research, we evaluated the effects and mechanism of LCZ696 in improving LVEF in AVMC. Methods Eighty 4‐week‐old male BALB/c mice were randomly divided into four groups of 20: Sham; Sham + LCZ696 (60 mg/kg/d); AVMC; AVMC + LCZ696. The above experiments were repeated by CVB3‐infected HL‐1 and Mdivi‐1 to down‐regulated dynamin‐related protein 1(Drp1). Adeno‐associated virus 9 (AAV9) with enhanced green fluorescent proteins (GFP) was injected to produce Drp1‐overexpression mice and set up four groups: AVMC group, AVMC + AAV group, AVMC + LCZ696 group, and AVMC + LCZ696 + AAV group ( n  = 20 in each group). LVEF was evaluated by echocardiography at a similar heart rate (HR) at d7, Drp1 (p‐Drp1), inflammation and apoptosis by histology and Western blot (WB), and mitochondrial by electron microscopy. Results Cardiac function were injured in AVMC that LCZ696 reversed (LVEF, %: Sham: 68.99 ± 9.67; Sham + LCZ696: 71.96 ± 6.20; AVMC: 30.95 ± 6.40*; AVMC + LCZ696: 68.99 ± 9.67*#, * P   〈  0.05 vs. Sham, # P   〈  0.05 vs. AVMC). LCZ696 attenuated p‐Drp1 expression, inflammation, apoptosis, and mitochondrial fission (p‐Drp1/Drp1: Sham: 1; Sham + LCZ696: 1.37 ± 0.22; AVMC: 2.29 ± 0.36*; AVMC+LCZ696: 1.43 ± 0.08*#, * P   〈  0.05 vs. Sham, # P   〈  0.05 vs. AVMC). Some of the above results were repeated in CVB3‐infected HL‐1 cells and Mdivi‐1. AAV increased Drp1 expression and mitochondrial fission, inflammatory, and apoptosis. Compared with the AVMC + AAV group, the LVEF increased from 24.44 ± 0.03% to 32.33 ± 0.05% in the AVMC + LCZ696 + AAV group( P   〈  0.05), p‐Drp1/Drp1 decreased from 0.54 ± 0.12 to 0.42 ± 0.09*, and IL‐6, c‐IL‐1β, and c‐caspase‐3/caspase‐3 decreased from 1.07 ± 0.22 to 0.72 ± 0.08*, from 1.03 ± 0.14 to 0.79 ± 0.09*, and from 4.69 ± 0.29 to 0.92 ± 0.13*, respectively (* P   〈  0.05). Conclusions LCZ696 has a protective effect on AVMC by improving LVEF and reducing inflammation and apoptosis, which may be due to the inhibition of Drp1‐mediated mitochondrial fission.

Abstract: Magnetic semiconductor materials have potential applications in spintronic devices. In this work, some nano-device structures based on the magnetic semiconductor NiBr〈sub〉2〈/sub〉 monolayer (NiBr〈sub〉2〈/sub〉-ML) are designed, their spin-resolved transport and photoelectric properties are studied by using density functional theory combined with non-equilibrium Green’s function method. The results show that both the NiBr〈sub〉2〈/sub〉-ML PN-junction diodes and sub-3 nanometer PIN-junction field-effect transistors (FETs) exhibit the significant rectification and spin filtering effects in either the armchair or the zigzag direction. The gates can obviously tune the electron transmission of the PIN-junction FETs. The current is significantly suppressed with the increase of gate voltage. In addition, NiBr〈sub〉2〈/sub〉-ML has a strong response to the blue and green light, thus its phototransistor can generate a strong photocurrent under the irradiation of blue and green light. The research results in this paper reveal the multifunctional characteristics of NiBr〈sub〉2〈/sub〉-ML, which provides an important reference for the application of nickel-based dihalides in semiconductor spintronic devices and optoelectronic devices.

Abstract: Two-dimensional semiconductor materials with intrinsic magnetism have great application prospects in realizing spintronic devices with low power consumption, small size and high efficiency. Some two-dimensional materials with special lattice structures, such as kagome lattice crystals, are favored by researchers because of their novel properties in magnetism and electronic properties. Recently, a new two-dimensional magnetic semiconductor material Nb〈sub〉3〈/sub〉Cl〈sub〉8〈/sub〉 monolayer with kagome lattice structure was successfully prepared, which provides a new platform for exploring two-dimensional magnetic semiconductor devices with kagome structure. In this work, we study the electronic structure and magnetic anisotropy of Nb〈sub〉3〈/sub〉Cl〈sub〉8〈/sub〉 monolayer. We also further construct its 〈i〉p-n〈/i〉 junction diode and study its spin transport properties by using density functional theory combined with non-equilibrium Green's function method. The results show that the phonon spectrum of the Nb〈sub〉3〈/sub〉Cl〈sub〉8〈/sub〉 monolayer has no negative frequency, confirming its dynamic stability. The band gap of the spin-down state (1.157 eV) is significantly larger than that of the spin-up state (0.639 eV). The magnetic moment of the Nb〈sub〉3〈/sub〉Cl〈sub〉8〈/sub〉 monolayer is 0.997 μ〈sub〉B〈/sub〉, and its easy magnetization axis is in the plane and along the 〈i〉x〈/i〉 axis direction based on its energy of magnetic anisotropy. Nb atoms make the main contribution to the magnetic anisotropy. When the strain is applied, the band gap of the spin-down states will decrease, while the band gap of the spin-up state is monotonously decreased from the negative (compress) to positive (tensile) strain. As the strain variable goes from -6% to 6%, the contribution of Nb atoms to the total magnetic moment gradually increases. Moreover, strain causes the easy magnetization axis of the Nb〈sub〉3〈/sub〉Cl〈sub〉8〈/sub〉 monolayer to flip vertically from in-plane to out-plane. The designed 〈i〉p-n〈/i〉 junction diode nanodevice based on Nb〈sub〉3〈/sub〉Cl〈sub〉8〈/sub〉 monolayer exhibits an obvious rectification effect. In addition, the current in the spin-up state is larger than that in the spin-down state, exhibiting a spin-polarized transport behavior. Moreover, a negative differential resistance (NDR) phenomenon is also observed, which could be used in the NDR devices. These results demonstrate that the Nb〈sub〉3〈/sub〉Cl〈sub〉8〈/sub〉 monolayer material has great potential application in the next generation of high-performance spintronic devices, and further experimental verification and exploration of this material and related two-dimensional materials are needed.

Abstract: Left atrial appendage closure (LAAC) combined with radiofrequency catheter ablation is an emerging one-stop hybrid procedure for non-valvular atrial fibrillation (AF). This study was performed to compare the efficacy and safety of the Watchman device vs. the LAmbre device for this combined procedure. Methods Two hundred and thirty two patients with AF who underwent the combined procedure were enrolled and divided into two subgroups depending on the device choice: the Watchman-combined group ( n = 118) and the LAmbre-combined group ( n = 114). The periprocedural and follow-up adverse events in both groups were documented. Results The mean CHA 2 DS 2 -VASc score and HAS-BLED score in the Watchman-combined group and LAmbre-combined group were 3.7 ± 1.5 vs. 3.8 ± 1.5 and 2.5 ± 1.1 vs. 2.3 ± 1.1, respectively (all P & gt; 0.05). Successful LAAC was achieved in all patients. The rate of major periprocedural complications and AF recurrence at 6 months post-procedure were similar between the Watchman-combined group and LAmbre-combined group (0.8 vs. 0.9%, P = 1.00; 22.0 vs. 15.8%, P = 0.23). During 2.6 ±0 .7 vs.1.6 ± 1.6 years follow-up, the rate of major clinical adverse events, including stroke and major bleeding, were comparable between the Watchman-combined group and the LAmbre-combined group (2.6 vs. 1.1% per 100 patient-years, P = 0.33). The intraprocedural peri-device leakage (PDL) rate was similar between the Watchman-combined group and the LAmbre-combined group (5.1 vs. 6.1%, P = 0.73), but the PDL rate was significantly higher at 3–6 months transesophageal echocardiography (TEE) follow-up than the intraprocedural PDL rate in both groups (21.6 vs. 5.1%; 36.6 vs. 6.1%, respectively), with a more obvious increase in minimal PDL rate in the LAmbre-combined group than the Watchman-combined group (36.6 vs. 21.6%, P & lt; 0.05). Conclusion The Watchman and LAmbre devices were comparable in efficacy and safety for the combined procedure. The minimal PDL rate at short-term TEE follow-up was higher in the LAmbre-combined group than the Watchman-combined group.
