    Abstract: We present redshifts for 2753 low-redshift galaxies between 0.03 ≲ z spec ≲ 0.5 with 18 ≤ r ≤ 22 obtained with Hectospec at the Multi-Mirror Telescope. The observations targeted the XMM-LSS, ELAIS-N1 and DEEP2-3 fields, each of which covers ∼1 deg 2 . These fields are also part of the recently completed Canada–France–Hawaii Telescope Large Area U -band Deep Survey and ongoing Hyper Suprime-Cam deep fields surveys. The efficiency of our technique for selecting low-redshift galaxies is confirmed by the redshift distribution of our sources. In addition to redshifts, these high signal-to-noise ratio spectra are used to measure ages, metallicities, and nuclear activity levels. In combination with the photometric catalog in u , g , r , i , z , y down to 27 AB mag, we are able to study the galaxy population down to stellar masses of ∼10 8 M ⊙ . This paper presents the observational strategy, the reduction procedure and properties of the galaxy sample.     Abstract: Negative pressure wound therapy (NPWT) with or without instillation has been extensively applied for patients with multiple wound types. Whether NPWT with instillation is superior to NPWT alone is not known. This study aims to compare the efficacy between negative pressure wound therapy with instillation (NPWTi) and standard negative pressure wound therapy for wounds. The authors searched for randomised controlled trials (RCTs) in PubMed, EMBASE, and the Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials investigating clinical outcomes of negative pressure wound therapy with instillation vs standard negative pressure wound therapy for wounds. The registration number (protocol) on PROSPERO is CRD42022287178. Eight RCTs involved 564 patients met the inclusion criteria and were included finally. NPWTi showed a significant fewer surgeries and dressing changes (RR and 95% CI, −9.31 [−17.54, −1.08], P   〈  0.05), and smaller wound area after treatment (RR and 95% CI, −9.31 [−17.54, −1.08], P   〈  0.05) compared with NPWT. No significant difference was observed on healing rate, time to heal, length of stay, dehiscence, reinfection, reoperation and readmission between NPWTi and NPWT. The addition of instillation to NPWT could improve clinical outcomes regarding the number of surgeries and dressing changes, and wound area after treatment in patients with multiple wound types. However, because of the heterogeneity these conclusions still need to be further validated by more well‐designed RCTs with large sample sizes.

    Abstract: Precise and shape-matching osteotomy models are determinants of the experimental homogeneity in the assessment of orthopedic biomechanical properties. At present, however, publications on detailed description of osteotomy in bone biomechanical study are scanty. The purposes of this study were to design a new method of osteotomy-aided module production for bone biomechanical study with the help of three-dimensional (3D) printing and computer-aided design (CAD) and to test the accuracy of osteotomy. Fourteen fourth-generation composite femurs were analyzed. The composite bone was scanned using computed tomography (CT) scanner and loaded in Mimics for reconstruction and, then, imported into 3-Matic software to design intertrochanteric region, distal femur, and rotation control lever models. 3D printer was used to print each component. After assembling Sawbones and osteotomy modules, a horizontal band-saw was used to create fracture models. The volume and mass of intermediate fragments were calculated and analyzed. Satisfactory osteotomies of all composite Sawbones were achieved. The mean volume and mass of intermediate fragments were 21.0 & plusmn; 1.5 mm3 & nbsp;and 19.0 & plusmn; 1.2 g, respectively. Range of deviation from average of volumes was & minus;1.9 & ndash; 2.8 mm3 and most of these deviations fall within the range of & minus;1.4 & ndash; 2.1 mm3 . Range of deviation from average of mass was & minus;2.0 & ndash; 1.6 g and most of these deviations fall within the range of & minus;1.4 & ndash; 1.6 g. One-dimensional histogram of deviation from average shows the precise and stable osteotomy performed based on the modules accordingly. A new method of osteotomy-aided module production for bone biomechanical study with the help of 3D printing and CAD was designed and the accuracy of osteotomy was verified. This method is expected to achieve homogeneity and standardization of osteotomy in bone biomechanical study

    Abstract: Phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase alpha (PI3Kα) inhibitors are currently evaluated for the therapy of esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC). It is of great importance to identify potential biomarkers to predict or monitor the efficacy of PI3Kα inhibitors in an aim to improve the clinical responsive rate in ESCC. Here, ESCC PDXs with CCND1 amplification were found to be more sensitive to CYH33, a novel PI3Kα-selective inhibitor currently in clinical trials for the treatment of advanced solid tumors including ESCC. Elevated level of cyclin D1, p21 and Rb was found in CYH33-sensitive ESCC cells compared to those in resistant cells. CYH33 significantly arrested sensitive cells but not resistant cells at G1 phase, which was associated with accumulation of p21 and suppression of Rb phosphorylation by CDK4/6 and CDK2. Hypo-phosphorylation of Rb attenuated the transcriptional activation of SKP2 by E2F1, which in turn hindered SKP2-mediated degradation of p21 and reinforced accumulation of p21. Moreover, CDK4/6 inhibitors sensitized resistant ESCC cells and PDXs to CYH33. These findings provided mechanistic rationale to evaluate PI3Kα inhibitors in ESCC patients harboring amplified CCND1 and the combined regimen with CDK4/6 inhibitors in ESCC with proficient Rb.

    Abstract: Utilizing dual-energy x-ray absorptiometry (DXA) to assess bone mineral density (BMD) was not routine in many clinical scenarios, leading to missed diagnoses of osteoporosis. The objective of this study is to obtain effective parameters from hip computer tomography (CT) to screen patients with osteoporosis and predict their clinical outcomes. Methods A total of 375 patients with hip CT scans for intertrochanteric fracture were included. Among them, 56 patients possessed the data of both hip CT scans and DXA and were settled as a training group. The cortical bone thickness (CTh) and Hounsfield unit (HU) values were abstracted from 31 regions of interest (ROIs) of the proximal femur. In the training group, the correlations between these parameters and BMD were investigated, and their diagnostic efficiency of osteoporosis was assessed. Finally, 375 patients were divided into osteoporotic and nonosteoporotic groups based on the optimal cut-off values, and the clinical difference between subgroups was evaluated. Results The CTh value of ROI 21 and the HU value of ROI 14 were moderately correlated with the hip BMD [ r  = 0.475 and 0.445 ( p   & lt; 0.001), respectively]. The best diagnostic effect could be obtained by defining osteoporosis as CTh value  & lt; 3.19 mm in ROI 21 or HU value  & lt; 424.97 HU in ROI 14, with accuracies of 0.821 and 0.883, sensitivities of 84% and 76%, and specificities of 71% and 87%, respectively. The clinical outcome of the nonosteoporotic group was better than that of the osteoporotic group regardless of the division criteria. Conclusion The CTh and HU values of specific cortex sites in the proximal femur were positively correlated with BMD of DXA at the hip. Thresholds for osteoporosis based on CTh and HU values could be utilized to screen osteoporosis and predict clinical outcomes.

    Abstract: The meta-analysis aimed to estimate the efficacy of prophylactic tamsulosin on postoperative urinary retention (POUR) in male patients. Methods Papers were searched in the PubMed, Embase, Web of Science, and Cochrane Library databases with predetermined keywords up to March 1, 2022. The studies reporting the preventive efficacy of prophylactic tamsulosin on POUR among men were identified. Pooled risk ratios (RRs) were calculated based on the random-effects model. Meta-regression was performed to explore potential sources of heterogeneity. Results There were 11 studies with 1,046 patients in the tamsulosin group and 1,113 patients in the control group. The risk of POUR was significantly lower in the tamsulosin group (123/1,046 [11.8%] vs. 238/1,119 [19.0%] ; RR = 0.61; 95% confidence interval [CI] 0.43 to 0.87; P  = 0.006; heterogeneity: I 2  = 57%; P  = 0.009). Administration of tamsulosin was related to higher risk of adverse events (57/688 [8.3%] vs. 33/624 [5.3%] ; RR = 1.68; 95% CI: 1.13 to 2.48; P  = 0.010; heterogeneity: I 2  = 33%; P  = 0.20). The level of evidence and mean age of the included patients were identified as the potential sources of heterogeneity. Conclusion The present meta-analysis indicated that prophylactic tamsulosin helps in preventing POUR and younger patients might benefit more from this preventive regimen. Administrating tamsulosin was also associated with a possibly higher risk of adverse events.

    Abstract: Study of the effects and mechanisms of licorice in the treatment of ulcerative colitis (UC) from the perspective of mitochondrial autophagy. Methods BALB/C mice were induced with 3% dextran sodium sulfate to build an animal model of UC. After 7 days of modeling, different doses of licorice were administered for 7 days. Hematoxylin and eosin staining is used to detect pathological changes in the colon. Mitochondrial membrane potentials and reactive oxygen species (ROS) contents were detected by flow cytometry, and autophagy of mitochondria was observed by transmission electron microscopy. Determination of inflammatory cytokines by enzyme‐linked immunosorbent assay. The oxidizing factors are detected by the kits. Western blot analysis was used to detect expressions for nuclear factor called erythropoietin (Nrf2), pten‐induced protein kinase 1 (PINK1), Parkin, HO‐1, P62, and LC3. Results Licorice improved the pathological condition of UC mice, increasing the mitochondrial membrane potential and decreasing the ROS content. Promotes the emergence of autophagosomes and autophagosomes. The contents of interleukin (IL)‐1β, IL‐6, IL‐17, and tumor necrosis factor‐alpha were downregulated, the contents of superoxide dismutase and glutathione peroxidase were upregulated and the contents of malondialdehyde were downregulated. In addition, licorice promotes the expression of Nrf2, PINK1, Parkin, HO‐1, P62, and LC3. Conclusion Licorice was shown to reduce levels of inflammatory factors and oxidative stress in mice with UC, possibly by promoting mitochondrial autophagy through the activation of the Nrf2/PINK1 pathway.
