    Abstract: This study aimed at analyzing the prevalence of hepatitis B virus ( HBV ) DNA among hepatitis  B surface antigen ( HB s A g)–negative donations by cobas T aq S creen MPX test ( R oche M olecular S ystems) and discussing the meaning of a reactive minipool ( MP ) that does not resolve to an individual donation ( ID )–reactive result. Study Design and Methods Nucleic acid amplification testing ( NAT ) was performed in 12 C hinese blood centers on 826,044 serologic negative donations in MP s of six. MP ‐reactive pools that were resolved to ID ‐reactive donations were confirmed by R oche T aq M an viral load assays. Antibody to hepatitis  B surface antigen and antibody to hepatitis  B core antigen (anti‐ HB c) results were also analyzed. Cycle threshold ( C t) values of reactive MP s were analyzed in relation to the probability of pool resolution. Results A total of 1267 of 137,674 pools were reactive, of which 839 donations were reactive by ID ‐ NAT . The MP 6 HBV NAT –yield rate lay between 1 in 1600 and 1 in 1000. At MP C t values equal or below 37, the probability of pool resolution was approximately 80%. The prevalence of anti‐ HB c in ID ‐reactive donations was 81%. The proportion of reactive pools that could not be resolved was 36%. The prevalence of anti‐ HB c in donations implicated in nonresolved MP s was significantly higher than those in nonreactive MP s (48% vs. 37%, p = 0.016). Conclusion The anti‐ HB c data suggest that approximately 10% of nonresolved MP s contain HBV DNA from a low‐viral‐load occult carrier. We consider ID ‐ NAT resolution testing in duplicate to minimize HBV transmission risk associated with transfusing nonreactive donations implicated in reactive MP s.

    Abstract: Many species of Stephania Lour. are used traditionally in South-east Asia as medicinal plants. Understanding and predicting their therapeutic properties could be improved, provided that the evolutionary relationships among lineages are clarified. We present the first molecular phylogeny of the genus Stephania, focusing on the species occurring in China on the basis of nuclear (internal transcribed spacer, ITS) and chloroplast (trnL–F) markers sequenced from 29 species of Stephania. Our results showed that S. subgenus Stephania and S. subgenus Tuberiphania are not monophyletic, owing to the phylogenetic placement of a single species (S. mashanica). The relationships with the third subgenus, S. subgenus Botryodiscia, are not resolved. None of the sections in our analyses is monophyletic. Our study calls for further phylogenetic investigations including more accessions from the whole distribution area of the genus. A taxonomic revision of the genus Stephania, which would reassess the appropriateness of the macromorphological characters used so far to distinguish among subgenera (e.g. flower merism, size and aspect of the rootstock and main root), and sections (e.g. inflorescence morphology, sessiliflorous or not), is much needed.

    Abstract: We aimed to evaluate the efficacy and feasibility of patient-reported outcome (PRO)-based symptom management in the early period after lung cancer surgery. METHODS Before surgery, patients with clinically diagnosed lung cancer were randomly assigned 1:1 to receive postoperative PRO-based symptom management or usual care. All patients reported symptoms on MD Anderson Symptom Inventory-Lung Cancer presurgery, daily postsurgery, and twice a week after discharge for up to 4 weeks via an electronic PRO system. In the intervention group, treating surgeons responded to overthreshold electronic alerts driven by any of the five target symptom scores (score ≥ 4 on a 0-10 scale for pain, fatigue, disturbed sleep, shortness of breath, and coughing). The control group patients received usual care and no alerts were generated. The primary outcome was the number of symptom threshold events (any target symptom with a score of ≥ 4) at discharge. Per-protocol analyses were conducted. RESULTS Of the 166 participants, 83 were randomly allocated to each group. At discharge, the intervention group reported fewer symptom threshold events than the control group (median [interquartile range], 0 [0-2] v 2 [0-3]; P = .007). At 4 weeks postdischarge, this difference was maintained between the intervention and control groups (median [interquartile range] , 0 [0-0] v 0 [0-1] ; P = .018). The intervention group had a lower complication rate than the control group (21.5% v 40.6%; P = .019). Surgeons spent a median of 3 minutes managing an alert. CONCLUSION PRO-based symptom management after lung cancer surgery showed lower symptom burden and fewer complications than usual care for up to 4 weeks postdischarge.

    Abstract: Mobile health (mHealth) apps are rapidly emerging technologies in China due to strictly controlled medical needs during the COVID-19 pandemic while continuing essential services for chronic diseases. However, there have been no large-scale, systematic efforts to evaluate relevant apps. Objective We aim to provide a landscape of mHealth apps in China by describing and comparing digital health concerns before and after the COVID-19 outbreak, including mHealth app data flow and user experience, and analyze the impact of COVID-19 on mHealth apps. Methods We conducted a semilongitudinal survey of 1593 mHealth apps to study the app data flow and clarify usage changes and influencing factors. We selected mHealth apps in app markets, web pages from the Baidu search engine, the 2018 top 100 hospitals with internet hospitals, and online shopping sites with apps that connect to smart devices. For user experience, we recruited residents from a community in southeastern China from October 2019 to November 2019 (before the outbreak) and from June 2020 to August 2020 (after the outbreak) comparing the attention of the population to apps. We also examined associations between app characteristics, functions, and outcomes at specific quantiles of distribution in download changes using quantile regression models. Results Rehabilitation medical support was the top-ranked functionality, with a median 1.44 million downloads per app prepandemic and a median 2.74 million downloads per app postpandemic. Among the top 10 functions postpandemic, 4 were related to maternal and child health: pregnancy preparation (ranked second; fold change 4.13), women's health (ranked fifth; fold change 5.16), pregnancy (ranked sixth; fold change 5.78), and parenting (ranked tenth; fold change 4.03). Quantile regression models showed that rehabilitation (P75, P90), pregnancy preparation (P90), bodybuilding (P50, P90), and vaccination (P75) were positively associated with an increase in downloads after the outbreak. In the user experience survey, the attention given to health information (prepandemic: 249/375, 66.4%; postpandemic: 146/178, 82.0%; P=.006) steadily increased after the outbreak. Conclusions mHealth apps are an effective health care approach gaining in popularity among the Chinese population following the COVID-19 outbreak. This research provides direction for subsequent mHealth app development and promotion in the postepidemic era, supporting medical model reformation in China as a reference, which may provide new avenues for designing and evaluating indirect public health interventions such as health education and health promotion.

    Abstract: Nodaviruses are small bipartite RNA viruses and are considered animal viruses. Here, we identified two novel noda-like viruses (referred to as rice-associated noda-like virus 1 (RNLV1) and rice-associated noda-like virus 2 (RNLV2)) in field-collected rice plants showing a dwarfing phenotype through RNA-seq. RNLV1 genome consists of 3335 nt RNA1 and 1769 nt RNA2, and RNLV2 genome consists of 3279 nt RNA1 and 1525 nt RNA2. Three conserved ORFs were identified in each genome of the two novel viruses, encoding an RNA-dependent RNA polymerase, an RNA silencing suppressor, and a capsid protein, respectively. The results of sequence alignment, protein domain prediction, and evolutionary analysis indicate that these two novel viruses are clearly different from the known nodaviruses, especially the CPs. We have also determined that the B2 protein encoded by the two new noda-like viruses can suppress RNA silencing in plants. Two reverse genetic systems were constructed and used to show that RNLV1 RNA1 can replicate in plant cells and RNLV1 can replicate in insect Sf9 cells. We have also found two unusual peptidase family A21 domains in the RNLV1 CP, and RNLV1 CP can self-cleave in acidic environments. These findings provide new knowledge of novel nodaviruses.

    Abstract: Remote-sensing images constitute an important means of obtaining geographic information. Image super-resolution reconstruction techniques are effective methods of improving the spatial resolution of remote-sensing images. Super-resolution reconstruction networks mainly improve the model performance by increasing the network depth. However, blindly increasing the network depth can easily lead to gradient disappearance or gradient explosion, increasing the difficulty of training. This report proposes a new pyramidal multi-scale residual network (PMSRN) that uses hierarchical residual-like connections and dilation convolution to form a multi-scale dilation residual block (MSDRB). The MSDRB enhances the ability to detect context information and fuses hierarchical features through the hierarchical feature fusion structure. Finally, a complementary block of global and local features is added to the reconstruction structure to alleviate the problem that useful original information is ignored. The experimental results showed that, compared with a basic multi-scale residual network, the PMSRN increased the peak signal-to-noise ratio by up to 0.44 dB and the structural similarity to 0.9776.

    Abstract: CircRNAs are implicated in the development of several cancers. Nevertheless, the involvement of circ_0000118 in the development of cervical cancer (CC) remains unclear. Circ_0000118 levels in tumor tissues and cells were examined by qRT-PCR. The function of circ_0000118 in regulating the malignancy of CC cells was investigated using functional assays, including CCK-8, colony formation, transwell, and tube formation experiments. The functional interaction between circ_0000118 and microRNAs were validated by dual-luciferase activity assay and RNA precipitation experiments. In vivo mouse model was employed to assess the effect of circ_0000118 in the tumorigenesis of CC cells. Circ_0000118 was overexpressed in CC cells and tissues. Loss-of-function experiments demonstrated that circ_0000118 knockdown impaired the proliferation and tumor sphere formation, as well as the angiogenic potential of CC cells. RNA interaction experiments confirmed that circ_0000118 sponged miR-211-5p and miR-377-3p. AKT2 was found to be a target gene negatively modulated by miR-211-5p and miR-377-3p. AKT2 overexpression rescued the inhibition of circ_0000118 downregulation on CC cells. Our study suggested that circ_0000118 functions as an oncogenic factor in progression of CC by maintaining AKT2 level through targeting miR-211-5p and miR-377-3p as a ceRNA (competitive endogenous RNA), which provides novel therapeutic target in the management of CC.
